A pylon missile carrier—likely belonging to an Israeli F-15—was either damaged or shot down on March 1 over southwestern Iran.

According to the source in Iran, the aircraft was hit by a surface-to-air missile (SAM) fired by a unit of the Iranian Air Defense Force (IRIADF). The pilot either managed to return his damaged aircraft to Israel with difficulty, or ejected "somewhere between Basra and Najaf." (The resulting combat search and rescue (CSAR) mission reportedly led to an armed clash in which one Iraqi soldier was killed.)

As is often the case, none of this is "official." As indicated by the watermarks, both still images were published by Tasnim News Agency, which serves as the semi-official mouthpiece of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Also hundreds of tunnels and bunkers and small underground operating bases built anticipating US Navy attempting to storm Iran from the sea. CMs, drones, speedboats, torpedos, unmanned suicide boats and USVs. all stored in these areas leading all the way up to Hormuz.

In early 2000s the concern was that an U.S. land invasion would come from Iraqi border and Afghan border in a dual simultaneous attack. But as U.S. forces reduced their footprint in those coming decades the focus shifted back to hardening the coastline.

A beachhead at Gulf of Oman coastline is still their only option —but it will be bloody and expensive for both sides.

WASHINGTON: An investigation led by a US general will take “as long as necessary” to determine the facts of a strike on an elementary school in Iran, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Friday.

The investigation is conducted by a general officer from outside the US Central Command (CENTCOM) and “will take as long as necessary to address all the matters surrounding this incident,” Hegseth told a news conference.

Tehran has accused the United States and Israel of conducting the deadly missile attack on the school that Iranian media reports say killed at least 165 people, including children.
