My guess is, if there has to be an operation to rid Strait of Hormuz threat, that will involve extensive heavy bombing in the coastal areas that may have missiles or drones capable of hitting shipping traffic. Any introduction of marines will only happen when there is high certainty that there are no more reasonable threats. It will not be like D-Day landings in WW2. These bunker busters that were dropped is just an initial probe. They will probably see if the attack pattern on shipping has changed and modify their plan accordingly. If Iran uses longer range missiles, the size of area to be sterilized increases. That is why I said it is 'ugly'.

Given the current facts, I don't thing there is an efficient way. So long as Iran has the ability to launch one missile or lay one mine or fire a single artillery shell, the Strait will be at risk.

That won't be acceptable to the warring side as it will leave the ability to threaten shipping in another dispute. I was enquiring about a military solution to removing the threat permanently with least amount of fighting.

I feel that isreal will make a retaliation perhaps in Persian new year 21 March killing many civilians as their signature sacrifice style. Maybe claiming some hvts are present in the new year celebrations.

Iranian government should take some responsible measures to stop any unnecessary loss of life whether Iranian civilian or in their own ranks. High value officials should not be present in the celebrations. Local celebrations in cities can be made but population should be advised not to be too visible around. You need your people to fight not to become target practice.

Another thing they can do is just like the previous uprisings gunman will open fire on new year celebrations killing people and try to stir uprest again with remaining agents and pahlavi clown barking from the back stage.
