So, big conference related to my field of work in Dubai was to be held in early May has now been cancelled. Note, not postponed, cancelled. This is probably happening in many sectors. Also we have canned all business trips to that part of the world and company events due to be held there now we are looking at South Africa and Turkiye.

Winners and losers of this whole thing slowly emerging. I do not think we will see a return to "normal" business and tourism to GCC for at least another 2 years, if at all....

I don't agree with Marandi on this. Both Turkieye and Qatar have deep defensive relations(eg Eurofighter transfer) so this not appropriate to suggest that Turkieye is involved in military operations in Qatar with this helicopter crash which looks like a simple transport mission at best.

I fear you are right, this will hurt, especially just before Easter Holiday rush when half the country hits the road, if there is panic buying it will be a mess here.

I work from home 80-90% of time and wife has an EV, so many in middle class will be OK, more concerned about long term economic effects, looking to arrange a mortgage on a flat for my daughter, rates are literally going up everyday.

I have been trying to find if the so-called 'Spheres of Influence' doctrine has credence or not because if that doctrine is valid then the Russia / China factor in this West Asia war would be minimal but if not valid then it would be a golden opportunity for Russia / China to embroil the West in yet another draining Middle Eastern war.

I think this is what is making this conflict very different from past ones where the US/West managed to control the narrative and win the PR war. For the first time they are failing here, even biased western media cannot hide the fact Iran is just not hitting back, but scaling up and also seems to be more abiding of the rules of conflict then the US and Israel

Because Trump is so arrogant, so callous, so irresponsible that even in his State of the Union address barely 2 days before America-Israel launched the attack on Iran he barely mentioned Iran. He didn't even bother to make a 'case' to attack. And to those of us who had seen between the 9/11 attack and the March 2003 attack on Iraq, how much effort was put diplomatically and media to 'manufacture consent', it is startling how arrogant this President is. He is essentially a clone of Netanyahu!! And, TBH, I trust Netanyahu's words have more meaning then anything Trump says. Anything!
