maybe hunt the US helicopters that are flying deep in Iran? give them something to think about?

disrupt any S&R operations on the ground?

give some air support to the civilians hunting the pilot? (apparently Artesh/IRGC ground forces do not exist any more)

if they rescue this guy alive after they rescued the other pilot yesterday, with no deaths, it will be a massive humiliation for Iran and will embolden Trump to authorise even more daring deep raids into Iran

this area is in between Shiraz and Esfahan, we are not talking about some small border town here.

you think air force commanders are so retarded they cannot repair a single air strip or prepare one small area in Iran for a helicopter to take off?

meanwhile Yazd missile base is pounded with 5,000lb bunker busters every day and fires more missiles after a few hours only

eagle 44 air base was built for nothing and air force commanders are all on holiday during war. fair enough.

Seems to me that Iran is at a massive disadvantage here though.

It a massive area. If the US has the location of the guy then they can easily create lots of confusions in different areas in the dark of the night, then land at the actual location, pick up the guy and leave.

On the Iranian side, they have to ole either chase after every US SAR group or scan the whole place to physically find him.

Unless Iran can deny any landings at all for the US, in the whole area while trying to find the guy in each place, this seems really tough for Iran.

On the Iranian side, they have to count on being lucky i finding the guy somehow.

Unless Iran can deny any landings at all for the US in the whole place, they can't really prevent this.
