With Donald Trump due in Beijing in 3 days if the trip goes ahead, we won't see anything new military actions by Israel/USA until that is over. However, will Iran 'play up' during Trumps trip is an unknown, especially if it decides to military respond to USN military actions against its ships which they recently said they would.

The Trump trip does feel like it has all the hallmarks of a naughty child going to see the headmaster to be told off for being naughty and given corrective homework to do..

Iran set a new redline: any American attacks on its ships will result in a military response against USN ships and U.S. bases in the UAE

No new U.S. attacks since then, as far as I know

As expected, the most upvoted comment on that NYT article is by a gloating Indian. They infest every corner of the internet. The remaining comments point out how the UAE Is wrong in doing this.

Right. Also, Indians are cornered and desperate and their line of attacks on Pakistan are like 'Pakistan sheltered Bin Laden' (False!), or the '1971 war', or 'Pakistan backstabbed USA in Afghanistan', or 'Pakistan funds global terrorism'. Etc. Etc.

"This was predictable because sectarianism is rampant in the Middle East. In case of Pakistan, despite some sectarian violence, the Shia community, which is only 20% of the population, plays a prominent role in Pakistan and many leaders have been Shia. UAE should be ashamed of itself for deporting the Pakistanis. Pakistan condemned the attacks by Iran on the UAE and also condemned the attacks on Iran by Israel and the UAE. What more could Pakistan do? PS. Sad to see Indians' even here can't appreciate the peacemaking effort by Pakistan to end this conflict."

From my perspective, relations between Iran and Pakistan had a fundamental reset in June 2025, and have been improving ever since then.
There are still many issues to resolve and areas for growth, but the trajectory is very clear.

Right. The reset happened then and there is no going back. The more the Pakistanis feel they can sustain American financial pressures, the more the Pakistanis would align with Iran. But the American financial tools are enormous and only some fools here would advocate ignoring them. But then the expat Pakistanis in the West live in a bubble of their own. Who cares if 50 million more Pakistanis sink below the poverty line in a nation which is under an eight decade threat from a massive, rich, powerful country to its east and a 40 million 'nation' full of rented terrorists to its west.

Good summary of the Israeli goals and Netanyahu will not give up until his goals are met and Netanyahu knows this is literally his/Israel last chance because no other US President would be a stooge like Trump has been.

It was an agreement crafted by the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council, + Germany, and it was adopted via unanimous UN Security Council vote.

The EU also passed its own resolution backing it.

EVERYONE agreed it was a good deal.

Everyone that is EXCEPT ISRAEL.

So let’s be real clear on this, Trump didn’t blow up the JCPOA for any of our allies. He didn’t do it for us. He did it for Israel. Because they own him. Period.

And yet so many lazy thinkers here couldn't see a Democratic Party American POTUS Mr. Obama spending 2.5 years of hard work to make the JCPOA possible against bitter Netanyahu opposition vs a Republican POTUS Mr. Trump who threw it out quickly after coming to office.
