Any ground invasion by Iran into both Iraq and Kuwait will blow open the Trump narrative of being in control of the war and will show the war escalating and getting out of control and destabilizing the one country that USA has spent years to try and stabilize again ie Iraq.
It will cost the Iranians a lot to try and do this though without air cover, I dont see any possibility of an island attempt given the lack of navy, but a land invasion of some kind of Iraq is possible(but still too expensive)

Perhaps more than anything else, it is Iran's large, motivated population which can be Iran's greatest strength. Use what they have. It will be very costly but doesn't have to be 'formations' like in the wars of old times.

We can only hope Iran will keep up the clean up operations for weeks and not stop with another cease fire . Iran should finally punish the PGCC and inflict such damage on them that it will take decades for them to recover .

Any reasons for why US could be doing this?

Araghchi:

From Friday, February 26, the atmosphere had shifted toward war.

I had a meeting with the President at 8 a.m. on Saturday, and I told him that "the atmosphere is one of war."

We usually gave the reports to Mr. Hejazi, and he would pass them on to the Leader.

I met with Mr. Hejazi at 9 a.m. and relayed the negotiation reports to him, and as I was referring to the heavy atmosphere of war, that location came under attack.

The Strategic Council of Foreign Relations was holding its regular weekly meeting at the same time.

The martyred Leader of the Revolution was present in their office.

Martyr Shamkhani had also convened a meeting of the Defense Council.

Martyr Shamkhani's meeting with the commanders in the Defense Council, the office of Martyr Shirazi, the office of Mr. Hejazi, and the office of the martyred Leader were the enemy's targets within the confines of the Leader's residence.

Holding simultaneous meetings on those days was not an unusual matter; however, the enemy's knowledge of these meetings was the result of a security breach that likely still exists.

The security breach is not only about infiltration and obtaining information; it is also about steering decision-making processes, and even more importantly, about steering our psychological atmosphere.

so the Strategic Council of Foreign Relations and the Defence Council were both holding an in person meeting at the same time ... in the same location ... which was entirely unprotected ?

after having several military and political leaders assassinated in the months prior ?

is this real life or a simulation ?

Any reasons for why US could be doing this?

because they are not safe in bases closer to Iran (Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain) since Iran has been targeting them precisely

so they are safer in Israel since Israel is not part of the war for now

but it means there will be a crazy concentration of US assets in a few Israeli airports
