Some people here may be underestimating Iran's own dire needs for a ceasefire. Also, don't forget that when the ceasefire was announced early April this year, the Israelis were very upset with that because in their words, Iran wasn't damaged enough. And maybe this ceasefire is connected with the recent visit of the Iranian Interior Minister to Pakistan.

After 13 nights of intensifying U.S. airstrikes on Iran, the Pentagon abruptly suspended the campaign late on Friday, with no U.S. attacks reported on either Saturday or Sunday.
Iran, which had been following each night of U.S. attacks with its own strikes on neighbouring countries that host U.S. bases, has also so far held fire for two days.
The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, told Fox News on Sunday that Trump had decided to pause U.S. attacks to allow more time for diplomacy.
"He's giving talks some space, he's giving it a little bit of room," Waltz said, without providing further details.
U.S. media including CNN, the New York Times and Axios reported that Trump called off his campaign of strikes after being advised by top military and civilian aides against further escalating the war he launched alongside Israel in February.
The senior Iranian source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters: "Iran’s position remains ‘attack for attack’: if the attacks stop, Iran will also halt its operations. That message has already been conveyed to the United States."
Asked about the pause, a senior official in Trump's administration said on Saturday that the president "has always been clear that his preference is diplomacy, but he has shown Iran what will happen if they fail to come to the table in a serious way."

The private deliberations have focused on the Pentagon’s shrinking inventory of Patriot interceptors and other air defenses, the officials said, discussing operational matters on the condition of anonymity. Three U.S. soldiers in Jordan were killed last Friday when a ballistic missile slipped through American air defenses fending off a barrage of Iranian missiles and drones, a senior U.S. official said.
Gen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has cautioned privately that resuming major combat operations against Iran was doable but that it would dangerously deplete interceptors available to the military’s Central Command, which is responsible for operations in the Middle East, the officials said. A spokesman for General Caine declined to comment on advice the general gives the president.
Steven Cheung, the White House communications director, said that the president has “always been consistent in saying he prefers a diplomatic solution, but he continues to retain all options if Iran continues terrorist activities in the Strait of Hormuz or against allies.” He added that after enduring crippling sanctions and repeated strikes, “it would be wise for Iran to work towards a negotiated deal; otherwise, they know what will happen.”
Mr. Trump has been wrestling with how to proceed in his nearly five-month war against Iran and specifically with how to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, as gas prices climb again amid the resumption of hostilities over the past two weeks. As long as our warnings - and so far we've given a few. After Ukraine kills many more of our civilians and soldiers and politicians and even facilities, then MAYBE we might respond. And if we do respond, it will be symbolic. We'll go after some empty barracks and call it a day and say ,'Ya Ali, Ya Hussein.'

Get attacked willingly and go cry to the UN after another x amount of condemnations
Due to political pressure respond with symbolic strikes.
If Push comes to shove, fight it out for two weeks and sue for peace.

Technically it is true we're not running out of Patriot interceptors in GENERAL but in the region or area of operation Patriot interceptors are running a bit low which is why you see a choo-choo train of C-17's heading towards area. When running low Orangeman calls a time out to replenish and for some reason IRGC agrees to this time out.... I mean WTF?
