Report: Western officials fear Iran will direct proxies to attack U.S. targets abroad​

Signals are increasing that Iran may direct its proxies to attack U.S. targets in the Middle East and Europe should President Donald Trump order strikes against the country, the New York Times reported, citing U.S. and Western security officials.

No specific plot has been detected, the report said, but intelligence intercepts of communications have increased, indicating some coordination and planning is taking place between Iran and its proxies.

According to the Times, officials are concerned Iran could push the Houthis to resume attacks on Western ships in the Red Sea, while Hezbollah or Al Qaeda cells could be employed to attack U.S. bases and embassies.

One senior U.S. official told the newspaper that the United States was tracking "a lot" of activity, but it was unclear what would provoke an attack

Well I can definitely see Iran striking military or diplomatic officials abroad in case of war especially knowing trump will target many military and diplomatic and even religious figures in Iran but why do we always have to go and throw the Al qaeda is an ally of Iran act same as they did with saddam

When 11 billion dollars of oil money is at the hands of the "Trustees", i.e. people trusted by the regime, and those people refuse to return the money because the value of their collaterals here is too small to cover their debt, that's corruption.

Purposeful suppression of wages in Iran has been a 2 decade problem, if not more. And it is a policy completely controlled by the government. Not something imposed on us by the US or Israel. The regime has enslaved Iranians and is stealing from us and sending our money to a bunch of rag-tag Arab militias that are not any better than Israelis towards us. Most Arabs hate Iranians as much as Israelis, if not more.

None of these things has anything to do with the United States or Israel.

Why is the Iranian government allowing demonstrations by traitors colluding with the enemy nation at a time when it faces imminent full scale invasion?

In any Western country, armed police would have been deployed without mercy. The traitors at Tehran University would have been arrested immediately, their names exposed, and barred from employment.

It wasn't the same government. Ahmadinejad had completely different ideas and he was continuously criticized by the others in the regime. Guess where Ahmadinejad is now? They removed him from power and never let him return again.
Iran's growth in 2000s was mostly the result of the US mistakes in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not something that the Ayatollahs did for Iranians.

The situation in Iran is purely a result of mismanagement. If this regime stays in power, there will be no Iran 20 years later to know what a China-dominated world looks like.

I'm telling you that even Tehran has electricity and water cuts in winter. Tehran is a city on the hills of the Damavand Mountain and we do not have enough water to pump into the homes of the citizens of Tehran! This is a joke! Only uneducated Ayatollahs could achieve this.

People are not going to allow this regime who is alien to our culture and identity and whose long-term strategy is based on the theory of Umm al-Qura and Palestine stay in power and ruin our country for another 20 years.

One of the analysts on Twitter said that the United States is planning to "Saddamize" this regime. I think this regime has already become "Saddamized" by the US and their own actions. And a similar fate is awaiting them at this point.

On some important level, I can understand your POV. I can sympathise with the profound hatred and anger that arises when witnessing your own nation and its people endure increasing poverty. Overall, your critique of the current circumstances and leadership is clear to anyone who is observant and rational, but let's be honest here.

There's no law, no rule, no fatwa in Islam that is forbidding you to build a nuclear bomb. Not in Quran, not in the entire body of hadiths, not in Sunni Islam and neither in Shia Islam.

This was a stupid decision by some Ayatollahs and it was absolutely a worldy, secular, geopolitical commitment they made.

Claiming otherwise is also a kind of insult for our Pakistani friends.

You have no idea if thy touched the Supreme Leader of Iran. The whole Shia world will come after them. They consider every Islamic country except their corrupt regime as fake Muslims, while many Sunnis in the Islamic world consider them Rafidhis.

When you ask them why they killed teenagers over a piece of headscarf in Mahsa Amini protests, they say Hijab is God's command and is obligatory. When you ask them why no other Muslim country, except for the Taliban, does such a thing they say those countries are not truly Islamic and are governed by the Zionists lol

They really think they should be some sort of role model for the Islamic world. The people of Iran gave them a country that was the world's 12th largest economy at the time and they have impoverished Iranians beyond imagination and we're now the 48th largest economy and they still think they are some sort of exemplary system of governance for the Muslims.

OK. So, please, kindly explain to me: What will the Shiite people of the world do if the United States targets the Supreme Leader of Iran? How will you go after them?
What did the Muslims do when Israel killed 70K Muslims in Gaza and orphaned thousands of kids and displaced millions of Palestinians?

When Trump assassinated Gen. Soleimani, the Iranian regime talked about Entegham-e Sakht. What happened to that? Why are they negotiating with Trump now?
 
When everyone thinks the threat comes from aircraft carriers at sea or airplanes in the sky, what I want to say is that Iran might simultaneously face anti-government armed groups domestically, or perhaps they are the main ground force, conspiring with external forces. The Iranian government should pay more attention to whether there are unusual occurrences in certain places, signs of unfamiliar personnel, or abnormal logistics and transportation activities.
Weapon smuggling loopholes.
The Syrian scenario will play out once again, with anti-government forces in multiple cities responding quickly and the government army retreating unexpectedly.
You can't know where the enemy is inside. This is what the Iranian government should be concerned about.
