Wars have historically stimulated American economy: Most of the money spent on wars generate income in America. The tens of billions 'given' to Ukraine or spent in Afghanistan was mostly funneled back to America.
Killing is literally a Business in America. And the model has been working for at least century.

Sure, but so much was spent on stuff useless to fight China. F-22 numbers were capped as they had to fund the Long Wars, carrier and sub building slowed down. Defence companies got rich making Humvees and on long tail logsitics.

China forged ahead on high end aircraft and ships and was given a 20 year breathing space. USS Gerald Ford will have been at sea now with various issues for 8 months. F-15Es and F-16s will have much more wear and tear and also 3 planes lost. Carriers, aircraft and crew will need to refit and stockpiles refilled.

US will need to spend hundreds of billions just to get them back to where they were a year ago.

How much money will be diverted from say F-47? Now carriers will compete with Subs for more funds.

All this is great news for China who will simply carry on what they have been doing and make more and more ships and planes and make all these even more sophisticated..
