If they were serious they should have helped iran until now.. for china lets say they are prone to sanctions but russia is already sanctioned what other excuse they have now?

China, Russia, and North Korea are the most sanction-resistant nations on Earth. China, in fact, can bite back if punitive sanctions are imposed on China.

You need a navy for that; Iran lost its Naval fleet last I checked.

They never needed a navy to keep it closed. Drones and missiles is what they'll use, and they'll use them in swarms.

I am amazed people still think in terms of good and evil and friends and enemies. There are NO such concepts in international geopolitics.

USA is doing exactly what Iran and Pakistan are doing: pursuing their own national interests, as best as possible. That is all.

That is untrue. Irás has not invaded no one and didn't supported any of two genocides in the last 5 years (Yemen and Gaza) and doesn't even initiated and attack by themselves with the only exception of Pakistán because of BLA.

Iran has pursued its own national interests, and it has come to this point that is is under direct attack, without a lot of support from any other country. Geopolitically, that is an abysmal failure, no matter what divine or regious or moral cover one may wish to give it. Now, it must bear the consequences and try to mitigate the situation as best as possible.

All is not lost at this point, however, and compromises are always better for outcomes, for all sides.

(Similarly, Pakistan will be okay if it plays its cards better than what Iran has done. But that discussion belongs in some other thread, not here.)

Sure, but when that "national interest" calls for nuking the illegal entity, and being open about it, don't be surprised about what's happening now then.

Iran can shut down the strait in 4 ways:
- go for the root: hit production facilities
- go for the tankers: hit the capacity to transport the oil
- mine the strait: physical blockade, without hitting the tankers
- combination of above mentioned ways

As far as I know china is not sanctioned overall except from few technologies and for their industrial base and huge export they may not come openly in help to avoid complete sanction. but what excuse russia have? they are already sanctioned to the core. If i have said something factually incorrect here.. i would love to be corrected from those who has a real knowledge of this sanctions
