May be the purpose is not defeating Iran
The whole purpose may be to turn Iran into Assad's Syria like state where Khamenai still in charge but military capabilities so degraded that they become non threat to Israel.
Strait of Hormuz will open up but damage done to Iran will be somewhat irreversible.

There can be no degradation of Iran's military capabilities unless if they put boots on the ground.

You can't win only via aerial bombings unless if Nukes are used(yes, proper "Hiroshima-level" or above yield nukes), because Iran has far too many underground missile bases and hundreds more smaller underground weapons productions unknown sites they can use to produce more weapons and replenish stocks used in this war.

The US will run out of smart munitions long before Iran loses its entire weapons production capability, and US stocks can't be replenished easily because China blocks Rare Earths.

Your mistaking a nation with world class airforce v a nation which has helicopters, old fighter jets, trainers, logistic planes etc, so the destruction will leave them with nothing, same with the navy, and army. This will reduce the capabilities from for example 90% to 30% which means more chance of infiltration, destability and rebellions.
