This is likely how Iran would collect “reparations” in any scenario. A Hormuz Tax of $2M per ship is about $1 increase per barrel of oil.
There is 0.0% chance US gives any money directly to Iran for reparations due to the optics of that. The only money they will provide is to the families of Minab school like they did when they shot the Iranian airliner down in the 90s
I think that instead of a flat charge of $2M per ship they should charge based on the value of the cargo. For example, oil tankers come in different sizes. They should charge, say $10/barrel.
