Humans will die within days without water, and this is fatal on a remote island without a water source. The island's inhabitants and the IRGC will be wiped out in as little as a week.

Agree, this seems to have led nowhere. I think Pakistanis got over-excited and unveiled something early that was much better off happening in the background, like Track II diplomacy. Or maybe the initiative was leaked by those who didn't want it to succeed in the first place. There is plenty of reporting that Saudi, UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait are urging the US to continue the war.
