This is just my opinion. Iran decided to absorb the hits for the first 6 weeks with the assumption that the US would start a land invasion. Once the close air combat war begins, then Iran would unleash the AD systems in hiding ( to ab namak) and start to ambush American aircraft.

So let me get this right, the Iranians are doing a 'rope-a-dope' tactic like Mohammad Ali used to do in the boxing ring, just let your opponent beat you senseless and when he's tired, that's when you bring our the big punches? Brilliant, just brilliant.
