Air Superiority: The ability of an air force to achieve control of contested airspace(s), repeatedly if necessary, and if there are losses, those losses would not pose a statistical deterrence to that ability.

Air Supremacy: He flies, he dies.

What's an appropriate term to use when a force can, at will:
- kill children, specially elementary school children;
- bomb civilian buildings without even notifying the residents so that the entire families could be buried alive;
- bomb ambulances and hospitals and kill medics and patients; or
- kill journalists etc

and then brag about its accomplishments?

The clear indicator here is air force vs air force.

There are two ways you can lose an air attacker, be it a fighter or a bomber: against the opposing air force, or against ground based defense.

We can eliminate the Iranian air force as cause of our air losses. The best way to defeat enemy air force is to destroy them while they are on the ground.

Ground based air defense is the last line of defense. Ground based air defense is when the enemy is literally over you. Ground based air defense is REACTIVE while an air force is PROACTIVE/PREEMPTIVE. Ground based air defense CANNOT carry the fight to the enemy but an air force can. Do you understand?

Like it or not, the US owns Iranian airspace. Any Iranian airplane flies, he dies. Simple as that.

Then by this definition, "air supremacy" becomes a pointless index of analysis, outside of massaging Pete Hegseth's ego.

Significant harm can be dealt to this air force, even if it is enjoying a state of so called "air supremacy".

I won't lose the football match over 90 minutes but I'll still lose on penalties.

The problem here is that war is not a football match.

I will remind you of what I learned from a chief when I was active duty: In a fight, you win not by fighting under the opponent's rules, but by forcing him to fight under yours, and cheating is allowed.
