Operation should be over in less than an hour. These helicopters don’t have infinite fuel and can’t loiter in the airspace forever even with an C-130 nearby to refuel. And they have likely burned alot of their flares to avoid Iranian manpads.

So, I expect news to come out shortly on the outcome.

The helicopters are there because they have a trace on his PLB - they would not mount this if he was DEAD.

give a helicopter to these random civilians, they will do a better job

Bahman Behmard is the current commander of the air force, though I am not sure what he actually does with his days considering no Iranian jets or helicopters are ever flying. maybe he is on holiday.

give some air support to the civilians hunting the pilot? (apparently Artesh/IRGC ground forces do not exist any more)

if they rescue this guy alive after they rescued the other pilot yesterday, with no deaths, it will be a massive humiliation for Iran and will embolden Trump to authorise even more daring deep raids into Iran

this area is in between Shiraz and Esfahan, we are not talking about some small border town here.
