Storage tanks are where oil goes before getting sent to a terminal to get loaded onto a tanker. Without storage tanks and on shore storage, wells have to be shut down which is damaging to the well and requires a long restart period.

This isn’t 1991 where you have to set fire to wells. You can accomplish things much easier by attacking the refineries, storage tanks, and oil terminals which will force operators to shut down wells because there is no where for the oil to go downstream.

A burning storage tank with a huge plume of smoke looks dramatic but storage tanks themselves are generic equipment and can be easily replaced. In a robust industrial region temporary tanks can be delivered the same day. Smaller volume, but operation will continue. Surviving tanks can be repurposed. A new properly sized tank can be fabricated in a short time.

But destroying specialized equipment like distillation towers, reactors, compressors, intricate multilevel piping and racks, specific pumps, etc. would put the operation to sleep for a long time. That is what Iran destroyed in the Qatar gas plant retaliatory attack. That was a $20 billion hit. This tank? Slash a lot of zeros. Never mind the time difference in returning to operation.

Either way it doesn't matter. Trump is still losing the war because war is won by achieving political objectives.

We know for sure by 48 hours Trump will delay his ultimatium again. One week ago he said war is winding down and will be over by two weeks.

Later this week (probably Monday) he will say we are negotiating and war may need 3 more weeks or something else. He's full of shit and so is his administration

Trump is going to say a lot of nonsense (more than usual), to calm the markets and bring down energy prices.
Thats why he is making repeated statements of saying the war will soon be over and that US is negotiating with "reasonable" people inside Iran. Its all theatre and fabrications.

However, his routine of doing that will only work so far. There comes a point when the markets are less and less sensitive to his words, and more affected by the physical realities in the strait. Which is that Iran still controls Hormuz strait and blocks it.

So you only see what someone manages to record and display online or what the government of that country announces.
