Even a minor scratch would be a big loss for the Royal Navy at this point.

Meh, Royal Navy is largely useless. Its carrier is off to New York

The Brits are not significant to this conflict beyond limited air domination in the Levant and maintaining overwatch in Qatar.

to be honest I am fed up of hearing about what if "anything" the Brits would bring to the table. Aside from what they have in Qatar and Akrotiri now, the rest is meaningless.

The Brits and other European allies can only bring in token contributions, mainly the aura of alliance for Trump to brag about. Even in the GWOT, the US was the main deal, rest were the chihuahuas.

Why is Trump really agitated and upset today? If I successfully completed a daring mission, I'd be over the moon...but he seems to be having a tantrum. I wonder why?

Sign of desperation. He is pretending everything is going well but once in a while desperation is seeping out.

To be honest, I worked in Afghan during OP Herrick, the Brits had a significant deployment in that part of the world back then. But that was in 2001 and we are in 2026. A lot of things have changed since then.

Yep, I remember that vaguely. The capabilities of the Brits gradually degraded over the last 20/30 years, didn't happen suddenly. They had deployed ground troops back then. Now their AF, Navy, Army all are very small and fairly ineffective unless they fight under the American umbrella. The Argentine have a great opportunity in the Falklands now if they themselves have capability, but they are equally bad AFAIK.

Intresting mapping.

Seems like we have different accounts to where the crash site actually was

This makes the crash shit appear outside of Isfahan

Simplicius has run some geolocations of his own and his findings appear to line up with the crash indeed being closer to Isfahan. He has a good article up on it now (its one of his free, non paywalled ones):
Even allowing for the fact that the US generally is pretty casualty averse and prefers to expend a lot of resources to try and retrieve its soldiers, the resources allocated to this rescue of two pilots seems...excessive. There's 'we care about our troops no man left behind oorah' and then there's this whole operation.

Argentineans can't compete with the UK, they are kaput.

2001 was a completely different world from now.

Imagine if the US tried to invade Iran in 2001, they mostly gonna get it.

True, their capabilities are very few. But if they had any capability, there is no better time than now. The Royal navy is tiny and quite ineffective, Trump probably won't help the Brits and Argentina has good relations with Trump. The time is now but the Argentines failed to prepare.
