THINK TANK: CONSULTANT
Well the logic of it is that they did not suffer any casualties but had to destroy their dysfunctional equipment on the ground. So I don't think any of the C-130s/little birds were shot down. Why there's no casualities on the pilot rescue/special operation mission? only some planes/choppers? the way those were burned down should indicate heavy firing. Also US claims that they burned their planes/choppers down
The bigger story is not the $400M of assets lost this way. It is what such a large force (lots of similarities to Operation Eagle Claw) was doing here. Why does the US need 150 aircraft, over 100 Delta Force/SEALs to go into Iran? The bigger story may have been their efforts to seize something from Isphahan which did not materialize.
