Modern war is not about inflicting the maximum damage on an adversary but to continuation of policy by other means, meant to force an adversary to one’s will.

Iran still gets to keep SoH, in some aspects unsanctioned, regime intact, does not give up HEU and lives to fight another day.

Some Iranians here are spreading pessimism which is uncalled for.

What next? Rebuild, manufacture drones and missiles like no tomorrow, and improve relations with China on a war footing.

Sir - relax.

2 weeks is not enough time for there to be much of a material advantage to either USA or Israel if this starts again. No new interceptors can be manufactured in that time, there will be no new ammunition supplies as USA has had NO issues with its logistics at all ( just look at the C17 flights RescueRanger has been posting).

The only material difference is that aircrew can be rested/refreshed, that is all.

The Straits can be closed in two minutes flat.

Lets see how the talks go, if they fail, then the bloodshed will be back on again. I don't think Trump wants to get trapped into war again, so the advantage rests with Iran to extract as much as it can. Pakistan will help in this regard as Pakistan "understands" the USA far better than Iran does.

I do feel there is an opportunity for Iran to unwind decades of sanctions, and that is truly worth the risk of a delay. I don't see Iran giving up their only means of defence either, or their allies. In all likelihood it will be JCPOA with some extra trimmings at most.

Also, It gives the IRGC some time to work out new tactics against Israel, as they have been founding lacking so far. If the IRGC can come with a game plan and target list to destroy key infrastructure in the 2 weeks, then all the better ?

I could go on.. I was the same thought/mind as you, and i made 3 long winded posts in that regard where I think i echoed what you said. After some thought, I went back and deleted them as I could see the advantages for Iran also in this delay as well, with the possibility of a real peace deal.
I agree with your view.

If the United States does not accept the ceasefire terms proposed by Iran, the war will continue.

There are major issues with the production of military weapons in the U.S., and the production capacity over two weeks is roughly equivalent to nothing. This means that if the U.S. wants to continue the war, it must transfer weapons from other bases to the Middle East within two weeks. Weapons from Japan and South Korea have already been transferred to the Middle East, which took about six days. But how long will these weapons last? European countries have already refused to participate in the war or to allow the use of their airspace; how many weapons can be transported in two weeks?

Iran can close the Strait of Hormuz at any time. After the negotiations on April 10, if the United States does not accept Iran's ceasefire terms, Iran has about 12 days to prepare. The distance for Iran to receive support is very short, meaning large quantities of weapons and materials can be transported to Iran in a very short time, which is a huge advantage.

On April 7, 2026, Bahrain submitted a draft. The core content of the draft recognizes that Iran's attacks and threats against commercial ships in and around the Strait of Hormuz violated international law and constitute a serious threat to international peace and security. It strongly condemns any action that hinders freedom of navigation and "strongly encourages" countries using the commercial routes of the Strait of Hormuz to coordinate defensive actions to ensure the safety and security of navigation through the strait.

This draft is essentially seeking legitimacy for the aggression of the United States and Israel with the aim of granting other countries the legal right to attack Iran.

The draft received 11 votes in favor, 2 abstentions, and 2 against; China and Russia used their veto powers.

Accepting peace negotiations is favorable to Iran's international environment. Iran can demonstrate friendliness to the international community and reduce the negative impact caused by the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran can let the international community see that the main parties responsible for ruining peace through aggressive warfare are the United States and Israel. Iran accepted peace negotiations and agreed to open the Strait of Hormuz, but it was the United States and Israel who refused the option of peace.

More importantly, every country has voices of opposition. By accepting peace negotiations, Iran can provide friendly countries with justification and legitimacy to support Iran, increasing the possibility that friendly countries will strengthen their assistance to Iran.

The Iranian people need to clearly see that behind the United States and Israel is an interest group; Iran needs to gain more support. The battlefield is not only in the Middle East; diplomacy is also a battlefield.

Now Trump says there will be no enrichment and refers to his 15 point plan

What a farce

As I said Iran has to understand what he's trying to cover that forces his hand!
Everything is financial. The oil prices will instantly hit $120 and bond yields that have dropped 25-30 basis points will climb instantly.
There is systemic risk to his bluster and he knows it... he made his casino deal knowing he was broke but played the banks and investors into backing his project that still went bankrupt.

He's fishing... reading the room.

Looks like there is another man child throwing a hormonal tantrum.

To be honest, when I see the Iranian government and military so easily abandoning Lebanon and Yemen, I can't help but think that such a regime should be overthrown. Do they even realize how much blood they've shed for Iran? It's deplorable that the only ones trying to overthrow this theocracy are agents of the United States. Are there no patriots who want to overthrow the mullah and build a proper secular state?
Iran hasn’t abandoned anyone, but even if they did. What blood have they shed for Iran? Get out of here. Iran is the one who paid the price supporting the resistance. They are shedding blood to liberate themselves, not to liberate Iran.
