The Goverment ( of which the Army is part of ) is completely worthless.
The Goverment had a perfect opportunity to demonstrate that they are prepared to defend the land borders of Lebanon in the recent flare up, but they instead took instructions from the Israel on where to withdraw from.
whatever legitimacy Lebanon was trying to build, by asking others to withdraw as they would take care of security is now gone.
Had the Government of Lebanon equipped its soldiers with anti-tank systems, and FPV's, then IDF would struggle to take any territory as the land itself is easy to defend from attacking land forces. The Government of Lebanon can mobilise its own people, and it can ask for military supplies from Muslims countries for help, things that the "local groups" cannot. The Government of Lebanon choses to not do any of this, so it is difficult to have any level of sympathy for them. Finland, Sweden have shown how you can have a civilian led defence force that be marshalled on mass when required. Israel also does this, but Lebanon does not, as with the case with all Arab countries it seems(explains why they keep losing "all" the time btw ).
The Government of Lebanon needs to take seriously the security of the country, which it does not do at the moment. The Government of Lebanon needs to build that capability first and demonstrate that it is prepared to use it, only then can any other conversations take place.
No one here is talking about The Government of Lebanon building a military that can invade Israel, just enough to stop an invasion dead in its track and that is possible at low cost, given the terrain of Lebanon itself........
