Many days ago an analyst said something like 'Iran has been isolated and sanctioned so much that they have lost the art of diplomacy'.
Understandable but still sad.

I think the Iranian diplomats fully valued Pakistan

People have not really mentioned this but the Iranian diplomatic mission in the USA is actually run via the Pakistani embassy


But at this stage talk of Pakistani betrayal is more than disappointing, from where exactly is this idea coming from, might it be self projection because it's not as if there are no counter accusations from Pak, which in any case is counterproductive to raise right now, or is it just being tense with worry and concern which is understandable, hopefully it is not based on propaganda campaigns from third countries


If reports are true for the first time in decades Iranian and American diplomats are talking face-to-face and even shook hands, at the nudging of Pakistan.

It would be unfortunate if we had to take sides in this conflict, and even more so if it would be against the aggrieved party. Gulfies have been providing logistical support to the aggresors and they alone should bear the consequences. But God damn those Emarati SOBs and that stupid defence pact that we have been forced to show up in Saudi.

Its unfortunate that we have to take sides in this conflict, and even more so that its against the aggreived party. It is really totally non-sense to even bring up Pakistan 'betraying' Iran. There would be riots in Pakistan, even a civil war, if Pakistan done so. Iranians know that and that's why, to the best of my knowledge, the Iranian officials have not said one word against Pakistani govt or the people in last 40+ days. And Iranians are in Pakistan in the Islamabad Talks right now and it looks like more Iranians are coming to Pakistan to be part of the ongoing Talks.
But I can understand if some Iranians are nervous: Their country is was badly hurt in this war and so emotions, even paranoia, is high. We need to make an allowance for that.

So I’m still skeptical about these talks I think Pakistan is getting played personally do I believe they genuinely don’t want to see a war right next door that would cause extreme harm to them for many different reasons mostly economic and perhaps a huge influx of refugees I do believe Pakistan genuinely wants to broker peace but I think Trump with his puppet master(Bibi) are just playing for time they didn’t respect Qatar during these talks so what if trump attacks again while they are supposedly doing these “peace” talks Pakistan will only do a symbolic protest and be done with it.

How exactly is Pakistan getting played, they only have an active role in facilitation, not enforcement.

Look where things were one week ago, it was an apocalyptic spiral and now the same people are talking face to face

In the real world, you may or may not be aware, but face to face meetings in the context of disagreement demonstrate at least the ability to open a theoretical channel for resolution.


Yes that talks may not result in anything and there are plenty of spoilers around in the world.

If let's say in 3 months time you need other facilitators, wonder who else Iran would trust.

Nah… no matter what happens in these peace negotiations , the US has lost, badly. Either Iran ends up stronger (charging tolls for example) or US intervenes militarily with boots on the ground and makes Afghanistan look like a win... There is no way to unblock that Strait in an era of drone warfare and Iran knows this.

Sending fighter aircraft to a country involved in a war that has killed thousands of our civilians, while hosting us as guests in their country for peace talks, thats a significant betrayal.

I would say it's called statecraft and is part of geopolitics. Pakistan isn't engaged in hostile actions against Iran, presently, in the past and nor in the future.

Would you say the same if the situation were reversed? Iran sending millitary forces to a country that has been directly involved in bombing your civilians?
