He's not wrong about China though... signals are being sent to China to step in to contain Iran and open the straits for all or face interruption in deliveries.
A face off can happen if a Chinese bulk carrier is stopped from entering or exiting the straits or is targeted. Until that moment arises... how China handles a blockade that didn't exist prior to illegal US aggression against Iran using states in the region as accessories.

This is not a reason. The Persian Gulf is small, and the CM-302 is enough to destroy warships in the Gulf. And Iranians should understand that the Chinese government cannot provide YJ-21. The real reason is that Iranians have once again been deceived by Trump.

We’ve gifted China a once in a lifetime opportunity to end the Bretton Woods world order, completely renegotiate strategic and economic alliances. Even control over two of the most critical chokepoints. They’d be foolish to pass, but I still can’t see China risking physical confrontation with the US. We’ve even done most of the work on that front too. But I still can’t see it.

Your correct they will not intervene militarily, even though that can easily make Usa and Israel back off. The issue is Usa Israel EU GCC Quad are allies, they will gang up against China, in terms of trade/economy/isolation, also China does not have any defence treaty or strategic military alliance with Iran, infact Iran is in Russian/Indian camp. Yes China does have close economy relations with Iran but even if Iran regime falls China will continue to trade with the new regime, same way after Saddam fell and China trades with Iraq, the trade is more with China than Usa. China is more about business, economy, trade and they stay out of wars and other nation politics, China will militarily only defend a few close allies.

Iran should have made alliances during Iraq Afghanistan war or recent Syrian war, they knew they were next on the hitlist, I expected defence treaty with Russia and Russian military base to defend Iran from any attack but for some reason it was not possible, even though Russia had bases in Syria which stopped Nato from imposing no fly zone.
