One immediate deterrence for Iran would be to deploy more mobile patrolling bm launchers and 5x more inflatable/wooden tel decoys scattered around the country. Initial Iranian counter attack would be more dense even if usa strikes first and temporarily disables Iranian mountain bases making israel-usa think again before starting the war again.

Once the gates of mountain bases are destroyed again and if most bms are inside those bases the frequency of launches reduces to 10 per day or similar which is not enough to create enough damage on isreal even if the gates are reopened continiously from inside.

Here's the part I think is overconfident and risky- US is not in the same situation or power level it had decades ago- the wrong mistake now could unravel US's dominance and global position, because the US's vulnerabilities today are way worse and problematic for it than before. the global environment US exists in today is way different ,so I do not agree that US's risks and losses are always "tiny" or "minor corrections needed". It is obvious that Iran over-reached when trying to be the champion for the Palestinians and part of Iran's over-reach was due to the ideological zeal of the 1979 revolution in Iran which was, behind the religious reasons, as imperialistic as it gets: Expanding its influence.
