The U.S. has not yet commented on its attacks on Qeshm Island but they were likely significant to trigger this large Iranian response

Iran promised a larger response the next time, and they delivered that today

Indeed, but this is a separate event to the U.S. bombing Qeshm Island, which is what triggered Iran’s retaliatory strikes (per the IRGC’s statement). We don’t know why the U.S. bombed Qeshm yet. That part is still murky.

Iran also responded to the U.S. attacking an oil tanker linked to Iran by attacking an oil tanker near Dubai.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces downed three Iranian one-way attack drones launched toward civilian mariners who were lawfully transiting international waters. U.S. forces also conducted “defensive strikes” on an Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island.

So it seems the U.S. attacked an Iranian tanker, and Iran then attacked a ship trying to covertly pass through the Strait of Hormoz without permission, and the U.S. responded by bombing a target in Qeshm island, triggering this Iranian response against US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain

If the previous pattern holds, the U.S. will back down and not respond, and the cycle will repeat in the near future, with a stronger iranian response each time

No missiles were fired at Saudi Arabia.

Iran is leading Saudi Arabia and Qatar out of this so that it has some allies on the other side.

The fact it’s left UAE also alone is surprising.
