That is how geopolitics works. Iran may need to revisit some of its policies, that is all, and deal with this war as best as possible. Or it can decide to stay the course.

The US Military has targeted a "non compliant" haulage vessel and disabled it by striking it's engine room with projectiles after it failed to "comply" to several verbal and visual warnings.

The vessel in question is the Palau-Flagged tanker the M/T Settebello.

The vessel was contracted by India and left port 21 days ago en route to the strait.


The strike on the engine room has resulted in at least 4 Indian Nationals who were crew on the vessel to have likely perished.

According to AIS data the last known location of the settebello is just off the cost of Oman.


This is the first time seafarers have lost their lives due to the US blockade of the strait of Hormuz.

That is how negotiations to end wars usually go - whichever side feels it is in the better position offers less concessions, and whichever side feels it is not in the better position has to offer more concessions.

It's complicated: Sayyed Ali Khamenei was a marja', and therefore loads of people across the Muslim world followed him as such. He was also Vali-ye Faqih for those that support Velayat Faqih, meaning you could follow a different marja' like Sistani for matters of everyday fiqh, but follow the political instructions and hukmat of Khamenei.

Mojtaba Khamenei isn't a marja', but he is Vali-ye Faqih. Time will tell if he can be recognised as an actual scholar like his father, or if he will prefer to just be Vali-ye Faqih.

Has anyone else thought that maybe they are trying to divide the Shia factions who are allied with Iran’s world view? Kill Soleimani, Nasrallah, Khamenei etc. Weaken Iran and its allies, empower opposing factions, ie. Sadrists in Iraq. The good old divide and conquer. Any chance this is what they are doing?

That has been Western strategy for centuries, why should it change now ? In Lebanon West/israel have been rolling out think tank "experts" and journalists to say Hezbollah has been unfairly monopolizing the Lebanese Shia community's views, in Iraq they have been pursuing this militia integration with the Iraqi army and gloating that this reduces Tehran's influence. In Iran itself they have been pushing secularization and in Yemen the Saudis have been deployed to bribe/threaten the Houthis to not get involved.

But given that the West/Israel has also been attacking these very communities for almost 25 straight years now, there is greater awareness of Western tactics and strategies and hence divide-and-rule isn't working. Instead, exhaustion and being relentlessly attacked are taking a heavier toll on Iran and allies.

So IAEA board of governors just passed a resolution that iran must give access of its nuclear sites to IAEA.

What is the significant of this resolution?

Whats next? UNSC passes a resolution that all the UN members must form a coalition and invade iran? Like the gulf war?
