If nations like Vietnam, Cambodia, Afghanistan etc can repel aggressors and force them to run with their tails between their legs , what is exactly stopping the Lebanese from doing so? Why do they need Iran?

No nation with any dignity would ever allow foreign soldiers on its soil......even without weapons they would use other shit to kill the invaders. So what the hell are are the Lebanese upto? We never hear about them ........where is their army/military/people ??? If GAZANS can do it bare-handed, whats with them?

Not everyone is ready to sacrifice their lives and their family lives. Its not easy task. Also many times the aggressor left after getting done with its objectives. Like US could have remained in Afghanistan if it really wanted to. It left because its priorities shifted.

Incase of Israel / Lebanon. The technological / military difference is massive, Still hezbullah doing what it can but again the FPV drones alone cannot push back the Israeli army. Lebanon might need Iran because this very war was started AFTER Hezbullah joined the war seeing Iran being bombed by US & Israel. So they have a valid point to look at Iran.

Hezbollah is a Lebanese resistance group. They initially joined the fight against Israel to relieve the pressure from Gaza. They also again joined the fight after Iran was attacked and the SL was killed. In both instances, Hezbollah and the people of South Lebanon paid heavy price for this courageous stand.

Someone should inform President Trump that "Israel" withdrawing from South Lebanon and stopping home and infrastructure demolitions should be part of the MoU. Ceasefire alone is not good enough when one party ("Israel") is occupying part of Lebanon and violating it constantly.

Lebanon was basically engineered by foreign powers to have extremely little sovereignty as a nation, and therefore no functioning government. The fact that someone as unpopular as the egghead Joseph Aoun is in charge is a testament to how dysfunctional it is.

The population is also deeply scared of anything that might lead to another civil war. Hizbullah has to operate within extremely tight political space, and does not want to do anything that could lead to it being accused of starting a sectarian conflict.

There is a statement that war should come to end in all fronts. I would assume Gaza is included. However, in the MoU, Lebanon was specifically mentioned.

I don’t think it’s going to be a 30 to 20 missiles salute this time they the Israelis to understand the equation has changed the Iranians will sign the agreement but it might take an extra few days

Perhaps that is for the best, don't you think? People argued that Iran was reluctant to hit high-value targets in Israel because they feared a nuclear response. Turns out that the Iranian leadership deliberately spared important war assets even in neighbouring Arab countries like Bahrain. This was not due to a terrible 'target bank' as some people has been claiming ever since; they did it fully on purpose. Maybe Israel pushing Iran to fight is the better solution for Tehran in the longterm. Who knows?

The average neolib in the US claims that Iran has always won at the negotiating table and lost in a conflict which is a myth, propaganda. Throughout this on and off war the Iranian state gained the upper hand almost always when they decisively fought back.

This is why I always make it a point to explain to others that Turkey's forceful intervention in Northern Cyprus during the Cold War was a crucial moment in our post-WWII timeline, where we forged a credible deterrent in the eye of the White man and by extension Israel.

Now Iran may well choose to buy time, which nobody would criticise them for, but that will come at a cost - the cost may well be Hezbollah and arguably, the whole of Lebanon. This is a difficult choice to have to make.

Of course, the equation would change drastically if Arabs were to finally step up to the mark. But they have been successfully neutered over several decades.
