But there are more important applications of crude other than petrol/diesel for transportation, for example helium is extensively used to make computer components and 40% of the world's helium supply passes through the strait of hormuz, which is now blocked, with already short supply of critical components due to AI boom, along with shortage of fertilizers and mrv machines not getting enough supply of helium to function, these are all byproducts of crude.A train. You mean, "public transport"... Ohhh the horror of it!!! ( lol ).
What this war has taught everyone is that electric + solar panels, large batteries are the way to go.
