US from the first day was controlling the Straits of Hormuz vía South corridor and even IRGC was shooting some drones before declare it broken.

US won't fullfill any agreement that gives any leverage to Irán in Straits of Hormuz.

Honestly speaking, after this recent fiasco would we even want the longevity of this regime to protect our sovereignty and statehood? I think it would be for the best if a revolt were to occur and this time a permanent separation from mosque and state is needed. However, I hope we incorporate elements of the IRGC into the Army because they have proved their use at least.
