The U.S. Navy is facing a serious logistics problem in the Middle East.

Around 20 ships carrying roughly 20,000 sailors and Marines need more than 420,000 meals and about eight million gallons of fuel every week.

The situation became much harder after Iran destroyed a key Navy logistics base in Bahrain and made other nearby ports too dangerous to use.

Supply ships now have to travel about 2,200 miles to Diego Garcia, or even farther to Singapore, before returning to the fleet.

The USA has a logistic supply and basing agreement with India for the US Navy for the use of India's bases to resupply the USN. It is interesting that even though there is a formal agreement, that the USA is not using those facilities

No one in region is strong / independent enough to dare challenge the US. Trump has publicly said atleast twice that US will bomb the shit out of oman if they collude with Iran. So I don't blame Oman for rejecting the idea of accepting the tolls in partnership with Iran.

Also accepting tolls is unacceptable by everyone. Do you think Pakistan and other countries of the world would accept this? Because the oil exporters will obviously pass down that cost on oil buyers ultimately.

Even if you believe that Iran can make a "dirty bomb". But there's no benefit in it unless EVERYONE believes it. The belief that you get after testing nuclear weapon in your desert or underground. That's an announcement whole world witnesses and no ambiguity is left.

It is clear that Israelis don't believe if Iran can make Telaviv unhabitable. If they believed it then they would not have attacked Iran and killed SL. Dirty bomb, can make it / cannot make it / can deliver it / cannot deliver it. So, in the end it is not a deterrence. Its not an alternate to confirmed nuclear warhead.

US is going full throttle against economic strangulation of Iran. So how you expect small / powerless countries which are completely integrated in US economic / security architecture to go against the US. Oman would be stupid to go against US. If you'd be head of Oman, would you risk your entire nation for mere "tolls" ??

It is a choice, and there will be benefits and consequences either way. Oman cannot be a US vassal or territory, allow extraterritorial nations to use its waters and territory to create an existential crisis for the only civilizational nation in the area, and at the same time expect to enjoy the full benefits of sovereignty, such as unchallenged territorial waters and territorial integrity.
