Here is a quite balanced article about the increased oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz. The point about the Saudis also using the coast of Oman now is valid. The weak point is all these ships off the coast of Oman loading or doing STS and the Iranians need to find a way to disrupt it and regain leverage.

personally I dont know if nuclear weapons would be something good or bad for Iran (for Iranian people).

for North Korea was good, it did effective deterrence, but NK world location is different than Iran, and they can reach USA mainland with missiles (with nuclear EMP), Iran can't never do it. Iran only can reach USA vassals, and maybe USA dont give a fck about them, including Israel, in this stage of USA decline as superpower.

Nobody said the US controls the Strait 100%.

Its seige warfare.

Iran’s ONLY leverage (since they are clearly too risk averse to sprint for a bomb) is the Strait. Prior to this their leverage was a wide expansive nuclear industrial scale enrichment program that is now largely destroyed.

So for Iran the only way to get US to end the war is by controlling ENOUGH of the strait that the threat of global economic meltdown makes the US cry uncle.

For the US, the goal is to escort enough oil out to prevent that scenario and maintain it until Iran cries uncle from the economic siege/blockade it’s under.

Someone will have to cry uncle. Whether in 1 month or 1 year. Someone will have to make the move to end the war.
