Well to be fair when did they do that after Trump backed out of an agreement and Iran was doing 3 or 5 percent before that they held up to an agreement that Trump decided to leave and I don’t blame the Iranians if they did actually go nuclear Trumps buddy in NK has them and he loves his brother but if Iran actually did wish to go nuclear they had 20 years to do it all international and American reports said they had stopped meaningfully attempting to build a weapon 20 plus years ago it wasn’t worth the risk it actually might be worth the risk now though

Sorry I don’t think that makes sense I agree corrupt people definitely made money during sanctions but HEU was only raised after the sanctions were put back in place while Iran was the only country abiding with the agreement and they consistently kept raising it every time Trump placed more sanctions on Iran so whatever trumps reasoning(Bibi Bibi Bibi)with walking out of agreement that both sides agreed upon with one country consistently attempting to stay in a agreement that had become one sided agreement so yeah Iran said F it can’t blame them

Except if Iran decides to provide its own nuclear fuel to its reactors in next 25 years that Russia and Iran building, it will need over 250,000 SWU.

Which if you have that much industrial enrichment capacity it doesn’t really matter if you are enriching at 5% or 60% because if the person decides to sprint to a nuke they can do it in a blink of an eye at that capacity.

Keep in mind Iran never built out more than 20,000 SWU or so due to JCPOA being eventually signed and even when torn up iran never truly began building its industrial capacity beyond that range. So even back then Iran would need to have enlarged its program by a factor of 10 to feed domestic nuclear plants coming online next 25 years.

So really the 60% vs 20% vs 5% is all bullshit because the real question is how many SWUs are you willing to accept. If the answer by Vance is “as much as Iran wants” as long as it’s not higher than 5%, then it doesn’t matter what level iran enriches at because industrial capacity is something that takes longer and more costly to build then dialing the enrichment % up once you have the capacity.

And that is why JCPOA had a SWU limit for 20 years via various sunset clauses. So in reality, what Vance is saying is “you can never have a large industrial scale enrichment program even if you enrich at 1%”.
