And I've noticed this behavior, despite Pakistan saving them from the Soviets.

And we've hosted millions of them for half a century now and counting.

We were saving ourselves. Not them. We knew, next would be our turn.

Usa left Afghanistan possibly with some guarantees to use them against Iran later on. They also left many weapons intact to be taken by Taliban later on. There were also border clashes in 2021 and 2023 between Iran-Afghanistan initiated by the Afghan side. Afghanistan is not trustable that is true but it doesnt mean the trade route cannot be used tactically by Iran with the condition that there would be alternate routes and plans if Afghanistan backstabs Iran later on.
So putting all eggs in one basket and not thinking the backstabbing by the other side would be naive. Not making a deal is also a mistake since Pakistan route is about to be closed if not closed yet. Same with Russia trade routes can be opened there too but we all know by now how putin does business. So keeping eyes open for other side backstabbing and getting tactial gains are Irans responsiblity in these agreements.

Unfortunately many governments including the ones pretending to be against Usa are acting in a very coordinated manner in many cases inline with Usa(israel) policies even to the expense of their countries own interests. Picking one side and believing them would result in failure but tactical agreements can work as long as Iran is careful about the other side moves and motives.
