Israel sent Mossad commandos deep into Iran to destroy Iranian weapons systems during Israel’s attack on nuclear and military targets, an Israeli security source said, while another official said Israel used a ploy to suggest the strike was not imminent.

The Israeli officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the clandestine nature of the operations, described secret and lengthy preparations that went into an attack that sent oil prices sharply higher on fears of regional escalation.

Reuters could not independently verify the accounts.

Iranian officials who spoke to Reuters shortly before the attack had been dismissive about any imminent action and repeatedly said talk of strikes was just “psychological pressure” to influence US-Iranian nuclear negotiations that were due on Sunday.


Iran has not given a detailed account of what its Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called “unlawful and cowardly attacks”, but it has promised a harsh response. Iran’s mission at the United Nations did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Israel’s covert operation and other subterfuge related to the attacks.

Ahead of the strike, Israel gave the impression its focus was still on US diplomacy towards a nuclear deal with Iran, briefing journalists that its spy chief would go to Washington before the next negotiations.

Instead, Israel said it sent 200 warplanes to conduct a wave of air strikes across Iran before dawn on Friday, hitting nuclear facilities and missile factories, and killing military commanders and nuclear scientists, in a culmination of its efforts to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Iran says its nuclear programme is purely civilian.

The Israeli security source said Israel’s military and Mossad had worked for years on the intelligence needed for the strikes, which killed the commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps among others.

Iran crossed 'red lines' targeting civilian areas - Israel's defence minister​

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has said that Iran crossed "red lines" on Friday when its missiles targeted civilian areas in response to Israel's recent wave of attacks.

"Iran has crossed red lines by daring to fire missiles at civilian population centres in Israel," he said in a statement.

"We will continue to defend the citizens of Israel and ensure that the Ayatollah regime pays a very heavy price for its heinous actions," he added, referring to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

In the initial attack, the surprise of the attack seems to have shocked Iran and the deaths led to partial paralysis of Iran

It seems to have woken up now and A.D seems to be doing a bit better


But Iran needs a mass of missiles at the ready to fire, so any attack is not left unanswered

Iran needs to understand a short one day response of a few hundred missiles is NOT ENOUGH
Even if some got through and caused damage and fear, ITS NOT ENOUGH


To establish deterrence, Iran needs a bigger more sustainable attack



For most countries this would be difficult
For Pakistan for example our airforce would take the lead
But iran works behind it's missile force and it's had plenty of time to build up numbers
So it should have sufficient numbers for a heavy attack multiple times


But this will last days, of not a few weeks and Iran cannot show weakness

All it's leaders and scientists need to be safeguard and a proper war plan put in place


Any BULLSHIT from liberal murtad types should result in brutal cruelty
Whatever differences someone has with the state, this is NOT the time to act stupid

This actually frustrates me. At the very least Iran should have invested in a more robust air defence. You literally have unlimited oil and gas.

You want Iran fighting against the whole world? The only sensible thing for Iran would be to keep it Iran-Israel conflict. Involving others (by attacking their interests) would only bring more death and destruction to Iran and more misery to Irani people.

On a more serious note, I see Iran getting into a stranglehold of UN imposed terms and conditions while foregoing/surrendering its right to nukes forever.

I really hope that if the regime does fall, the next regime of Iran would help Israel bomb South of Lebanon, Yemen, Gaza and Iraqi militias to pieces. All of these useless leeches should pay the price.
