I am not Iranian, so you have a better understanding of the situation and your opinion is more valid than mine.

However, as a third person observer, I think the calculus hKhamenei ran with is that if Iran can demonstrate that it will not fully develop a nuclear program whereas run a civilian nuclear power program as a contingency would be the best option for Iran. The civilian program will ensure Iran maintains a human capital and basic infrastructure for a nuclear program for a bomb in the reserve. This was his mistake. We now live in a no-rules world. Iran perhaps didn't anticipate this.

Khamenei's calculation failed or he deliberately did that (more probable). Sub-critical modular nuclear programs do not work, deployed arsenal of some 300 weapons with triad can threat enemy.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied any call between Trump and Putin.

Russia's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday denounced continued Israeli attacks on Iran as illegal and said a solution to the conflict over Tehran's nuclear programme could only be found through diplomacy.

A ministry statement posted on Telegram noted Iran's "clear statements" on its commitment to adhere to the nuclear non-proliferation treaty and its willingness to meet with US representatives.

The statement also said Moscow was waiting for the International Atomic Energy Agency to provide "unvarnished" assessments of the damage caused to Iranian nuclear facilities by Israeli attacks.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin said on Tuesday that it saw that Israel did not want mediation efforts over its conflict with Iran for now amid what it said was "galloping escalation".

Please don't immediately capitulate, wait and see if iran, having put pressure, can broker something with trump, even forfeiting enrichment, then rebuild the country (it's not crippled as are syria, Iraq, yemen or lebanon) then turn to the east and invest on Asia's growth.

Iraq, Syria, Libya, Ukraine all had these brokered deals and you know what happened to them.
