YOU may think three yrs is short, but in the real world, the longer something, a car or a building, sits idle, the more difficult it is to revive them. Essentially, those sites are now useless for Iran for at least three yrs, Trump's current presidential term. Then Iran will have to contend with the possibility that the US will have either Vance or Rubio as next president.

Can Iran scout for another underground uranium enrichment site? Of course, but that will take yrs as well, and probably into either a Vance or Rubio presidency. That is just for scout, not yet development and building, and that is more yrs and money.

Going back to the Baghdad Bob days, I’m always amazed at how poorly US adversaries play the PR game. For sure there’s a biased media that doesn’t want to broadcast opposing viewpoints, but the image of the angry Muslim denouncing the west just plays into the worst prejudices at the heart of US imperialism. How about getting some young, western educated, telegenic, even female maybe, communications type who might be able to connect with western audiences? Lord knows AIPAC plays that game.

The president had been frustrated by coverage that suggested he had made a final decision on striking Iranian nuclear sites and he thought a two-week timeline could throw off the Iranians and conceal his plans, according to several sources familiar with what happened.

Trump made the call to issue the statement Thursday as he was set to have lunch with his former adviser Steve Bannon, who had been publicly skeptical of US involvement. Shortly after, his press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, walked into the White House briefing room and followed the president’s orders, signaling to the world that Trump’s mind wasn’t made up yet.

While the final call came Saturday as bombers were already in the air, those around Trump believed his mind had been largely made up for days regarding taking action in Iran.
