I dont know what you mean by whipping boy, but their intervention, along with Russia, was absolutely instrumental in saving the regime from collapse early on and helped extend the cilvil war a decade longer than it should've been, and caused hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths, destruction and fracturing of our country. This couldn't have happened without their interventions. So no, its not wrongfully being blamed in its role, it was pivotal. Only Turkey and US had as meaningful impact as the war dragged on, it became everyone playground in later years, at great cost to us.

I agree that our intervention to save a corrupt coward made the civil war longer at a great cost to the Syrian people, and a great financial cost to Iranians as well, but the fracturing of your country had nothing to do with us at all, to be honest.

And let's not forget that you guys replaced an Arab secular ophthalmologist with an Al-Qaeda affiliated terrorist who's been installed by Turkey. It's none of my business and I wish Syria the best. It is your country, your wish. If you think this guy is better than Assad, then I as an Iranian cannot disagree with you or challenge it but deep down, I can't help but feel that it's not going to end well and you may eventually regret it later on. Thank you, at least thats an honest statement I can actually accept, even if I don't fully agree with. If the regime collapsed in the first 2 years like it looked it would, before any interventions, then a lot of the pain and disintegration wouldn't have happened, not to the point it is now, we wouldn't have had separatist US backed Kurds controlling a third of our country or foreign bases and actors intervening so much like we saw later on. We know what we had with Assad for 50years, we had enough of it, at least now we have a chance at something different and hopefully better, time will tell we're still in a transition period with a lot of instability. I get the cost to Syrians but that war was more than just a local issue, it was part of a bigger game that was being played in the region. For years the West and its GCC puppets had been spreading propaganda about a "Shia crescent" stretching from Iran to Lebanon, which they saw as a threat and the Syrian civil war was the beginning of a project to dismantle this crescent. The West/GCC were involved in funding/arming the Syrian opposition from the very first day. Thats why Iran and Russia got involved as a response. The Saudi/UAE attack on Yemen, the Israeli attack on Lebanon, the US attacks in Iraq, the assassination of Qassim Suleimani and finally the recent Israeli attack on Iran are all part of this continuing campaign.

Yes I'm aware of all of this, and its mostly true. That doesn't take away from the suffering and legitimate issues we had against his brutal regime for 50 years, and oppression we endured under his rule. Both things can be true at the same time, but we had our own internal grievances that we were fighting against and suffered through, irrespective of the geopolitical games that were going on in the region. That's what mattered most to us, because it affected us personally, for a very long time.
