Yes they did think that. You can see it in their rhetoric during initial days of their war, they were all mentioning regime change and that's why their agent Crown Prince got excited also. Later when they saw no uprising and Iranian missiles hitting their cities, Israelis and their Western sponsors came back to reality.

Our society and culture is too decadent to survive in the modern world. China had a century of humiliation, we are now in our third century. If Iranian society cannot reform into something more militant and strong soon, it will be erased.
