These pilots aren’t intercepting the majority of them.

A small drone flying slowly(~200 km/h) and very close to the ground is very hard to detect by any kind of airborne radar.

No doubt Iran would have programmed erratic flight paths and they would probably be sent in "groups" with each taking different courses to the target to avoid all getting ambushed together.
