So far, the only confirmed hits are in that airbase in the sourthern desert.

Questions everyone:

1) What are the likelihood of a major Israeli response against Iranian soil and especially nuclear sites? If Israel attempts it and strikes not only nuclear sites but even military sites, doesnt it mean deterrence have failed?

2) How well equipped is Iran's air defence? Did they aquire the S-300 from Russia? I know that Iran has developed its own AD system BAVAR, but no one really knows how potent it is. Its not really been tested from what I know.

3) Where do you see this thing ending?

Here's the latest

It's just after 03:00 in Israel and sirens are sounding as its air defences intercept Iranian objects in the sky. Here's the latest:
  • Iran launched dozens of drones and missiles towards Israel in an unprecedented retaliatory attack
  • Sirens are sounding in Jerusalem, with flashes in the night sky as objects are intercepted by Israel's air defences
  • Iran suggests it will not launch further strikes, but warns against Israeli retaliation or any involvement by the US
  • The US shot down some drones that were headed towards Israel, military officials said earlier
  • Addressing the nation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the military was “ready for any scenario"
  • Iran's attack follows a strike on its consulate in Syria on 1 April that killed seven Revolutionary Guards, which Israel has not officially

Israel's wet dream is the fight Iran to the last American sucker.
Its not just Israel's dream, many old America Evangelicals hate Muslims/Arabs or everyone with a brown skin, some wants to capture ME resources and some pushing for Rapture like Bullshit, American Christians don't even mind Jews literally spitting on their nuns in Christian churches, they put Palestinian Christians under the bus just to support Jewish claim over the holy land, completely forgetting that Jesus AS main fight was against the Jews, and it was the Jews who have him arrested and later according to him " Crucified "

According to the various sources that are publishing this video, the explosion is the result of an interception of an Iranian ballistic missile in the suborbital phase of its flight, between 70 and 90 km altitude. This is probably an interception of Arrow 3, the Israeli defense made specifically for this type of slaughter.

If that is true where is the Iranian missile secondary explosion? The missile would have a 700kg warhead and fuel on board.

Instead this is a uniform explosion with no interference in the blast wave.

Iran attempting to overwhelm Israeli air defences

Joe Inwood

BBC News night

It seems that the idea behind Iran's attack is to overwhelm Israel’s advanced defences with cheap drones, to give its more sophisticated ballistic missiles a better chance of hitting their targets.

It is a similar tactic seen elsewhere, says Justin Crump from the defence analysts Sibylline.

“Iran’s tactics seem to have drawn on lessons from Ukraine, where the same drones have been used mixed with cruise and ballistic missiles to overwhelm air defences," he says.

A few months ago, we were taken to an Israeli Iron Dome battery. It consisted of a number of interconnected launchers each loaded with multiple missiles.
Each one is able to take down an incoming drone or missile in mid-air.

Iran seems to have calculated that getting past this system requires quantity as well as quality.

According to Crump, however, it is a strategy that is far from certain to succeed.

“Israel is not Ukraine; US and likely UK aircraft are seemingly helping destroy targets," he says. "And the Israeli Air Force is highly capable. Moreover, Israel has various anti-missile systems that will be hard to overwhelm.”

The extent to which this unprecedented attack is able to penetrate Israel’s air defences, and the damage it can do, will likely influence the level of any Israeli response.

World waits to see impact of unprecedented attack

This is uncharted territory fraught with risk and unpredictability.

Iran and Israel have fought shadow wars for decades, but for the first time Iran is now targeting Israel directly from Iranian soil.

This is no longer a confrontation led by Iran’s array of powerful proxies across the region against an enemy which has long kept silent about its own attacks on Iranian assets and targeted assassinations.

Israel describes Iran as the world’s greatest sponsor of terrorism; for Iran, hostility towards Israel, what it calls the “Zionist regime” is a core tenet of its 1979 revolutionary doctrine.

The risk of confrontation had risen with every month the Gaza war has ground on.

Iran has long prided itself on playing a long game, on exercising “strategic patience".

Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has avoided all-out war ever since he came to power in 1989 in the shadow of the destructive Iran-Iraq war.
Now the world waits to see the impact of this unprecedented strike.

I will go one further.
Not even a single high ranking Israeli official will be killed.

Israel killed two Iranian generals.
Iran will destroy some buildings that were give 6 hours to evacuate.

What is Iran's objective?
To avenge the deaths or to destroy infra?
Many more choices. Those two are simplistic.

I don’t think (at least hope) Iran would launch an attack without Armageddon in place.

Otherwise the current regime will fall and Iran would turn into Iraq.
