Iran launched an unprecedented large-scale drone and missile attack at Israel overnight on Saturday, in retaliation for a suspected Israeli strike on an Iranian diplomatic complex in Syria.

The reprisals marked the first time the Islamic Republic has launched a direct assault on Israel from its soil, marking a dangerous new inflection point in the fast-widening Middle East conflict.

In the aftermath of the attack, Tehran has continued to make threats against Tel Aviv and its Western allies, warning that its response will be "stronger and more resolute" if Israel continues to commit "military aggression."
Below are the latest developments:
  • Projectiles intercepted: More than 300 projectiles – including around 170 drones and over 120 ballistic missiles – were fired toward Israel in the immense aerial attack overnight. However, “99%” of them were intercepted by Israel’s aerial defense systems and its “partners,” according to the Israeli military. Only “a small number” of ballistic missiles reached Israel, with the remaining ballistic missiles, all cruise missiles and all drones being intercepted before reaching Israeli territory, IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said.
  • Biden-Netanyahu phone call: After the attack, US President Joe Biden spoke by phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, making it clear that the US would not participate in any offensive operations against Iran, a senior White House administration official told CNN. However, Biden has also reiterated that the US's commitment to Israel's security against threats from Iran and its proxies remains "ironclad."
  • US to consult with allies: Israel and its Western allies are now deciding how best to proceed. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he "will be consulting with allies and partners in the region and around the world in the hours and days ahead." "The United States condemns Iran’s attack on Israel in the strongest terms," he said in a statement on Sunday. "While we do not seek escalation, we will continue to support Israel’s defense, and as the President made clear, we will defend US personnel."
  • Iranian threats: Iran’s IRGC leader has warned that a “new equation” was created after its attack on Israel, and that it will now respond directly whenever Israel attacks its interests, assets or people. Iran's Chief of Staff has also threatened the US and Israel against any future attacks. Sardar Bagheri, the Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces, said Iran sent a message to the US through the Swiss embassy warning Washington if it cooperates with Israel in their possible next actions, US bases will "not have any security" and will be "dealt with."
  • Concern on the world stage: A wide range of foreign leaders, in the Middle East and beyond, have expressed concern over last night's attack and called for deescalation. Saudi Arabia, a major regional rival to Iran, stressed the importance of “preventing any further exacerbation” of the crisis, while Qatar, which enjoys close economic relations with Iran, expressed "profound concern." Several Latin American countries also condemned the incident, while China in the statement called "on relevant parties to exercise calm and restraint to prevent further escalations." Australia issued a strong condemnation of the overnight attacks, labeling the actions as "reckless and a grave threat" to regional security.

I'm tired of American lies.

All this mayhem is made in USA, by both sides.

Americans are the root of every evil thing of this planet.

Of course they know, they plan and they wish a full escale war in Middle East.
Honestly I think there is plenty of countries out there that suck not going down the road because that’s how you start flaming a thread but yeah American policies are definitely not right they are two faced to certain acts if that country is a “friend” or benefits them in some way they will turn a blind eye

America will not get directly involved in a war elections are coming up economy crap a war would only benefit if iran strikes American forces just before elections and Americans get patriotic for 5 minutes
I am not saying they are going to launch an invasion. I am talking about launching CMs, airstrikes. Targeting our military facilities, ADs etc.

This Israeli “government” doesn’t think I am sure the only thing they are thinking of or concerned with is staying in power
This nationalist government started all this mess and then Hamas gave them an excuse to start a chaos that would escalate to the first Iranian attack on Israeli soil. If this was the Cold War,the Americans and Soviets would have intervened to stop them both. But now...there's no Soviet Union,Russia is at war and wants the Westerners to fight somewhere else, far from Ukraine.

The mere fact that missiles and drones from an enemy country hits your territory is imo objective achieved though i would still have loved to see the dead bodies of these baby killers.
Now if Israel does not react it means deterrence is achieved which was the key objective. Remember when India jettisoned its fuel tanks inside Pakistan, it was considered a violation of our airspace and deterrence had to be established even though nothing was hit except trees and a crow.
Similarly when Iranians struck missiles in side our territory, we again hit them back because deterrence had to be established even if nothing of value was damaged.
In Israel's case their military bases were hit. Who cares with what number were they hit, they were hit none the less. That means Iran has established deterrence and showed it has the means and the will to hit Israel should Israel decides to escalate. Objective achieved.

Without US backing very low chances of Israeli retaliation.
That's the problem though, the Americans are saying they will support the Israelis on this.

Another question is: What if the Americans want to use the Inçirlik base in Turkey to attack Iranian targets?

'Massive failure of Israeli and American deterrence': John Bolton on Iranian strikes
Newsroom

John Bolton, National Security Adviser under President Donald Trump, joins CNN's Wolf Blitzer to discuss Israel's response to Iranian strikes.

The most surprising thing last night was the Jordanian response. Which means, that despite the facade of oposition to Israeli assault in Gaza, the Jordanians and potentially many other Arab nations are actually in cohoots with the zionists. Jordanain support for Israel is out in the open now. This will have serious strategic implications for both the Arab worlds and Iran.

Another thing was the use of Iraqi and syrian Airspace by the U.S. If i were Iran i would be exporting dozens of SAM systems to these two countries

The US will not participate in any offensive operations against Iran, US President Joe Biden has made clear to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a senior administration official told CNN.

The comments were relayed during the phone call that the two leaders shared in the aftermath of Iran's retaliatory strikes against Israel.

Dude Iran helped plan and execute the October attacks. Why would Israel consider them friendly?
No iran didn’t plan October 7 they were caught off guard like hezbollah and all other nations and groups common knowledge. We can argue that this was in Hezbollah playbook maybe even Irans playbook in the future for the heights but iran didn’t give Hamas permission to commence a plan that they were saving in maybe 5 10 15 years down the road. Iran didn’t benefit from October 7 in anyway whatsoever, iran thinks of what will benefit them down the line that is the truth nothing wrong to say that so does every group or nation in the world.

That's the problem though, the Americans are saying they will support the Israelis on this.

Another question is: What if the Americans want to use the Inçirlik base in Turkey to attack Iranian targets?
They already supported Israel by destroying half (or most) of Drones and Missiles.

I Don't think that Turkey will allow this.

Some words I can make out:
He thanks Allah and thanks the Ayatollah, he mentions the Imam medhi and curses Israel.

Perhaps a native Farsi speaker can offer better translation.

I understood Iran be israel hamle kardim. Or Iran attacked Israel. Accent is so thick. Lmao

We would say Iran ne Israel par hamla kar diya.
