Not strange as once we worked on deactivating satellite via laser , I wonder what happened to that project it's many years I didn't heard anything new about that.
That project really can be a game changer in case of a war .

Hoax and a bad one.

Iranian domestic HIMADs (Bavar-373, Mehran) surpass S-300PMU2 which is itself kinda like S-400 so why would Iran need another kind of HIMAD? modern aerial threats are slow moving drones.

Not necessarily.

There have been reports for at least two months of S-400 deliveries to Iran from both Zio-US and Russian sources.

Even if Iran was confident in Bavar-373 there is no real harm in having a couple of batteries of the proven S-400 to provide an additional layer of protection.

Also remember that Russia now has extensive experience in using S-400 against aircraft, missiles and also drones and so Iran will also get access to real world Russian experience with S-400.

While Bavar-373 may be up to par with S-300PMU2(which is near S-400 level as it uses so many S-400 components), Iran probably is still not up there with the S-400. I think the upgraded Bavar-373 to match or even exceed S-400 is still in testing.

More ADs systems are always welcome although I would say S-500 is more worthy purchase than S-400.

Iran’s S-300 order was on the small side for a country the size of Iran and the amount of threats it’s IADS (ie stress) would be facing in war. Iran need’s the densest air defense layers/rings on the planet. Just look at how many systems Russia and Ukraine have destroyed respectively on each other.

Also Mehran/Bavar-373 who knows what the production rates are at the current moment.

S-500 would be excellent to have as it is specifically designed to destroy MRBM/IRBMs and even is supposed to have some ICBM capability but Russia will prioritise itself before selling any to Iran or anyone else.

It is not about the comparison and value of the technical aspects of the platform as being the guiding line for procurement. Bavar-373 takes time to manufacture even if the manufacturers have been given the hurry up, S-400s also take time to manufacture. Even if Bava-373 is superior, what Iran also needs now is "combat mass" and "redundancy in its ADS", it is along those lines that Iran will look to supplement its local capabailities with foreign ones.

The monsters are at the gates of Iran, and they mean to do harm. Iran needs to get its offensive and defensive systems in place and actually prepare for a real hot war. S-400s will help in that effort, even if they are "inferior" to Bavar-373's .........................

Additionally, given how much China has invested in Iran ( https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/27/world/middleeast/china-iran-deal.html ) i am suprised to not see China rushing in with defensive systems to help Iran defend herself and therefore all these investments that China has made.

Good post.

I have made a couple of posts about this and it seems like some Iranians think it may be an "insult" to Iranian capabilities to import S-400 to Iran.

Even a single S-400 battery can make a real difference as Iran needs as much as systems as possible to defend against Zio-US.

Chinese will help but with satellite intelligence but at this moment it does not even benefit Iran to get anything Chinese as they are more familiar with Russian SAM systems since they already operate S-300-PMU2. China does not like to get involved like Russia does.

it is not silent hunter, a less powerful more portable system made by a different company
