Iranian Air Force (IRIAF/IRGC-ASF) | News and Discussions

As the article suggested, Iran is already delivering different arms to Russia. So it is possible they could be using the proceeds from those arms sales to cover the costs of te Mig-29s. Iran is also facing economic sanctions so money could be an issue here as well.

Yes - but, logically that does stop programmes in parallel of having an offset deal on one stream with Russia, and barter(oil) on another with China.

The article also mentioned China's PLA, Pakistan air force, Egypt, and others are all in the queue to procure J-10s, and China makes only 50 planes per year. So the wait for Iran could be much longer.

There is a question mark on Egypt( unlikely they are purchasing, it seems they were jostling for a better deal from the USA ). Pakistan air force, maybe there is an order there, finances are a problem there. China will size its production lines based on order volumes. Bangladesh maybe a firm order, and "maybe" Indonesia.

And when you have a gun on your head where another Western-backed Israeli attack on Iran can happen any time, the Iranians could be in a race against time, and the longer wait for J-10s may not be helping Iran at this time.

The lack of procurement for the air force has had far more of a material impact on Iran than the cost of procurement. New builds take time of course, but the logic here is because it takes so much time, don't buy anything..

Any procurement from China can be offset against oil sales now, as is the case with infrastructure development projects that are being funded the same way.

Surprisingly World Airforces Magazine has updated the IRIAF fleet with SU-35S* with * implying incoming airframes. Key Aero reported new MIG-29. Both of these wont publish anything without actual evidence.
Their evidence this time is a moron pm who get its information from YouTube.
Fact as of today remain thank one managed to produce a single evidence about existence of new mig-29 in iran

I should correct what I said. There is still a window until November.

From then on, cloud cover, atmospheric conditions, will make it more difficult to perform battle damage assessments, provide visuals for sorties.

Nonetheless, the army and national security apparatus must remain vigilant.
Its not ww2 era time , todays they can paint windows and still do their mission
And sar equipped and infrared satellite do the damage assessment for you .

By the way irand is not famous for being covered with clouds for 6 month of the year

While old, when modernised with ‘4+ generation’ sensors, avionics and weaponry, such as Zhuk-ME or more advanced Zhuk-A/AM phased array radars and R-77M air-to-air missiles, the aircraft will be highly capable, and able to comfortably outperform the ageing F-15s and F-16s relied on by the Israeli Air Force. "
What will be mig-35 not mig-29
So Mig-29s with the above additional updates, in addition to the IRIAF's familiarity with the existing Mig-29s in its inventory, seem like a good option for Iran.
Mig-29 with those upgrade is 100% alien to Iran pilots

If the news about Mig-29 were true, it will be considered as an urgent order placement. Most possibly will be added to airbases of Tehran and Shiraz for point defense purposes. Tehran can cover Isfahan and Shiraz will cover south west of the country. Tabriz is still under defended unfortunately, but given the urgency, something is better than nothing at all.

There are signs of 60 units being added to IRIAF from Russia's own reserves.

Till receiving Su-35s, we won't be able to track and chase them over Iraqi airspace.

Hopefully they come with Zhuk radars.

There is zero evidence that any of them have actually been delivered to Iran. Its all just twitter rumors endlessly pumped out by desperate trolls

Surely an Su 35 in Iranian livery in Mehrabad airport would have been photographed/filmed.

Anyone who thinks this is a perverted person. The F15 is a tough nut to crack for the Su-35. The F15 is a missile truck with a big radar, a long range, and serious onboard systems. The MiG-29 has no chance against the F15. The Su-35 without data connection has no chance against the F15 with Awacs data connection.
I have the feeling that some of the commenters here are enthusiastic patriots but hopelessly incompetent.

Yeah, not read this much misplaced optimism since I visited the HAL Tejas Thread...
