Iranian Air Force (IRIAF/IRGC-ASF) | News and Discussions

40+ years later we are still trying to replace F4/F5

The hostage taking of US Embassy diplomats was the wrong move. By all means expel the US, but it should have been done in a professional manner not like religious fanatics or ISIS. Even Taliban didn’t do what Iran did.

U.S. will never stop trying to punish Iran for that moment.
Actually I think It is vice-versa as all US Congress and Senate is kindnapped by Israel. Even Qatar reaction to israelí attack It is between shameful and a treason.

If I recall correctly, the problem with the IrAn-140 was a failure of the engine and the electronic engine control system, or EEC, which in the 2014 crash did not automatically feather the propeller during the engine failure.
In any case, there were other contributing factors to that crash, including human error before and during the technical problem that led to the aircraft's crash.
According to recent reports, the engines have been upgraded to eliminate the defects and faults.

I attach the video file of the interview during the test launch ceremony, produced by IRIBNEWS.

Hope you're right. But remember you need at least two flyable prototypes and also at least two ground airframes in order to make test of fatigue in the fuselage and crack in the wings. And AFAIK we didn't even see a second prototype still. Anyway It is promissing and challenging. Even Russians failed to make a twin turboprop Il-112. And Ukranian Antonov gave up and did a low cost turbofan 148 without rear ramp, that makes It nearly useless for military transport.

On page X of MESHKAT dated July 2, 2023, during the then Minister of Transport's visit to HESA, the attached video begins with a few frames showing what is believed to be the second Simorgh prototype.

Given that more than two years have passed, it's possible this second aircraft is in an advanced stage of construction. I wouldn't be surprised if they showed it soon, perhaps during upcoming tests.

It would be nice to see a gunship version like the c 295 they would have a better ability to control their borders with a plane like that and monitor their borders and why they haven’t come up with their own version of Hawkeye

I hope simorgh being successful ... if it's successful we can built more 1000 commercial regional jet for reginal transformation....

Hope so Mr. Sahureka. It is important to note that even Russians failed to make a tactical turboprop. That shows how good can be Iranian technology.

On Facebook it's being quoted as a replacement for the ageing C-130 fleet, which I find interesting, since Hercules is much larger aircraft

Perhaps an AWAC platform similar to the Saab GlobalEye, Boeing E 7, Embraer R 99?

We can develop that technology no?

If you have ineffective governance, how can you have anything else?
Iranians have accomplished a lot, despite this regime. It is not like its a linear trajectory straight to the bottom. There were some ups and downs. The economy was relatively stable under Khatami, and Ahmadinejad committed a lot of money to science and R&D.

Rafsanjani acquired Mig 29s.

Moghaddam developed the foundation of the missile arsenal.

Unfortunately, Iran is handicapped by geriatric senior leadership.

We cannot acquire some Y9s from China in the meantime?
look like no , there is no will in either side ....

IRI see China as new USA and rather have more relation with Russia , France , Germany and Japan , India base on more or less equal footing than USA or China ....

Personally I have same idea as well ...

nope , IR didn't invest in any electric industry. TheHardware and Software depends heavily on technical personals which cannot work with average 500$ per month and accept idiotic admins promoted by IR curropted sub system. That why we still can't build something like F20 after 30 years of trying...
