I think that may have been that way once upon a time not anymore there’s a saying beggars can’t be choosers would you really say no to a country that could deliver a 100 or more top of the line fighters versus Russia it’s just china doesn’t want to damn honestly I would love to see j 10 and j 35 in the skies if Iran
If that were the case they would have made some sort of effort to obtain those fighters. Yet they are still waiting after years on Russia, a supplier with a notoriously unreliable record, to deliver obsolete PESA equipped fighters in a fraction of the numbers. It is a conscious choice to pursue such a policy. IIRC China said that Iran hasn't requested any military equipment from them, and I very much believe that to be the case.
china has been delivering military equipment to Iran for years including for their missile production fuel and etc but china isnt willing to upset more lucrative long term relationships they have with GCC and Arab countries but I feel like this is going nowhere kind of debate and I don’t want to derail this thread over a topic that has talked about constantly in the past
Yeah they have but that's all dual use equipment. They don't export any true "military equipment" because Iran only wants to import from Russia.
Russian equipment is time tested, specially SU30 and SU35, its best for long range bombing mission. Now you can guess why Iran wants these interceptor/bombers.

The chinese will never sell us fighter jets. The chinese are anemic towards getting involved in protracted conflicts. They will never sell us anything beyond a MANPAD.
Chinese are very careful and every product they sell, first they look through American foreign policy lens or American futuristic reaction on such deal. Its bitter, but Russia is best hope for Iran. Or focus on build own fighter jet engine.
