Iranian Air Force (IRIAF/IRGC-ASF) | News and Discussions

The problem facing the Iranian Air Force is the Israeli and American threats, so Iran's options are limited. For example, the Russians actually possess 150 MIG-29A/S fighter jets that could be upgraded to the level of the MIG-29SMT, and the new AESA radar used in the MIG-35. However, the Russians' actual capacity does not exceed the supply of 36 fighters per year from the production line.
Another solution is Algeria, which possesses 32 MIG-29SMT fighters. There have been numerous rumors, including that they will be supplied to Sudan and that they will be equipped with North Korea's new BVR missiles.

Quick solutions for Iran would be to acquire F-4E fighters and spare parts to extend the life of its fleet, as well as the aircraft stored in Egypt and Greece.
China would also provide spare parts for F-14 fighters, as Chinese aircraft have F-14 fighters for display. Thus, Iran can ensure the operation of several squadrons for additional years and their rapid and effective operation, given the availability of pilots operating these fighters.

There are A report on a Chinese website claims that Pakistan has quickly delivered 10 J-10C fighter jets to Iran as a prelude to potential J-10C fighter jet deals from China to Pakistan in the coming period. If this information is true, Iran will have acquired the fighters and their crews.
One viable solution would be to convert Iran's F-7 and F-5 fighters into UCAVs.
Upgrading the F-7 provides a 2-ton payload after removing the cockpit and everything related to the presence of a pilot in the fighters, and increases the fuel load needed to carry out strikes against Israel. The same applies to the older F-5s.

Rebuilding the Iranian Air Force requires years of training, modernizing equipment, command and control systems, and purging Iran of spies. This is Iran's weak point, as Israel wants to strike Iran as quickly as possible. Reviving the Iranian Air Force aims to raise the cost of any Israeli strikes against Iran and hinder the destruction of Iranian territory.

🇮🇳⚡🇷🇺 Indian Defense Sites are reporting that leaked ROSTEC documents, corroborated by Defence Security Asia, reveal that the Indian MiG-29K’s Zhuk-ME radar was sold with falsified reliability data.

Russian Engineers reportedly simulated test outcomes rather than conducting live trials and even fabricated performance reports by installing dummy radar modules. The original promise of a 150-hour mean time between failures was exposed as fraudulent — with the actual performance dropping to between 60 and 90 hours. (Lol)

They do this to a good ally. Who knows what they do with us

Nobody in Iran thinks Russia is an ally, except Khamenei

I have a theory on why these projects keep on showing up but never see serial production.

These old planes need hundreds of private companies to keep them in the air. As an example F-14A's overhaul requires 4000 engineers/technicians per airframe. Its upgradation to AM standard needs around ~8-10 Million USD. Similar story with F-4E/D. So retiring an old platform means all these people making money off it will no longer be doing it. They cant switch to Russian planes because Russia sells spares itself. Why would local aviation industry allow the cash cow plane to die ? Hence projects are created to keep the platform alive. That's how pylon less, missile less Mirage F1 kept on flying for 35 years in Iran.

This missile is of no use to MIG-29, SU-35S/30SM, YAK-130 and Iran is no longer manufacturing Kowsar planes so only explanation I see is an attempt at keeping the F-4E/D fleet alive.
This is sad.

Bad showing.

Nobody in Iran thinks Russia is anything but our enemy, except Khamenei and his gang of simpletons.

Russians are saying extremely negative stuff about our soccer team in their newspapers, just proving once again that our countries are enemies. And this is the same Russia that is way below Iran in FIFA ranking, it's considered a total joke in Europe, and has lost to Iran 2 times in recent years.

A curious coincidence. First, in May, North Korea publicly demonstrated an air-to-air missile similar to the AIM-120/PL-12, and now something similar is installed on an Iranian F-4.photo_2025-10-14_02-12-51.jpg

That's because Indians don't know shit about radar technology. Iran has been evaluating and operating AN/AWG-9 since 45 years ago with a detection range of 370 Km. Iran independently upgraded its antenna to have 740 Km range.

India is not in same class as Iran.

well, it's just a claim, india is more advanced than Iran in electronic fields

when B-2s and F-35s fly over Delhi and all other central Indian cities and drop 12+ of the largest conventional bomb in existence over their main nuclear enrichment site and exit Indian airspace without anyone knowing they were there until the US tweets about it, then we can compare ourselves to India

In that world of yours India is an enemy of the strongest military of the world backed by its allies in her neighborhood. Indian air defense radars were attacked by local Indians with Israeli provided launchers prior to US involvement.

How come Indian airforce was screwed by Pakistan's professional personnel? It was Pakistani engineers that integrated a European AWACS with Chinese fighter jet.

Don't compare a shithole with Iran.

B-2 could be easily shot down if our long range early warning radars and also command centers were not damaged by local terrorists and Israeli SEAD/DEAD attacks.

The most advanced radar of the globe cannot operate after getting shot by an anti tank missile.

the budget is not enough for innovation
China is leading in electronics field. USA and a couple of European countries stand above and Iran follows them closely.

Others such as Taiwan or other jokers are production lines of other countries.

Can anyone speaking Korean pse translate 1760529091610.png and 1760529120503.png for me,, as per the above 'Sparrow' analogue, and the AMRAAM.
Thanks

I dont see them as enemies, threat yes considering the history but not enemies at all. They are just not the allies that many IRI supporters think they are. They have caused more damage to Iran through IRI's pu$$ee dove policies with them then they could in 4 centuries of wars with Iran.

Every country looks for their own, Russians do same. IRI just looks for everyone else's benefit except Iranians.

And I'm sure many Iranians do consider them to be our enemies. People even chanted death to Russia in the Green Movement and that was back in 2009.

They were one of the first countries to call on Iran to settle our "differences" with the UAE over our Persian Gulf islands.

They have failed every test in the last 20 years. Every single one of them. A friend that betrays you every time is definitely your enemy in disguise.
