This is very interesting. I wonder how the US will retaliate. I think targeting IRGC in Syria would be a weak response considering US is "the world super power." An appropriate response from "the world super power" would be drone strikes, air raids or cruise missile strikes at IRGC inside Iran. Anything less and they lose face. It's a humiliation. Such and attack can lead to a huge escalation, but they might feel emboldened after 18. January. If they do, I'd say theres a 50% chance Iran will retaliate proportionally, then there is no stopping this war.
Americans think they can commit crimes and support the criminal, but they don't see any response! The US has 4 options:
- Leave the region
- Stop Israel from continuing its ethnic cleansing in Gaza
- Attack the axis and Iran and start a full war in which they will present themselves as the victims
- Do strikes in Syria-Iraq, and wait for the next batch of drone that will kill random soldiers
There will be no attack on Iran itself with Democrats in power.
Mullahs are lucky there is a sleepy person in the White house
The way I see it is that Israel and US itself has been targeting Iranian proxy groups almost on a weekly basis for the past decade. From their POV. They are the world super power and just lost 3 soldiers. This time they need to respond in a way a world super power would respond, something that sends a message clearly. Anything less than that means they lose face, become humiliated and risk losing many more soldiers in the future. Why would you strike Iranian soil overtly for an attack that happened on foreign soil [Jordan].
For example, Pakistan struck inside Iran because Iran struck inside Pakistan.
Even Israel has never OVERTLY struck Iranian soil, but instead used clandestine shadow war ops.
It’s a whole another ball game when you strike a country’s soil. It has to respond or else it will open Pandora’s box of becoming the next Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, etc where other countries can strike you and “mow the grass” whenever they want.
While I don’t expect US to bomb a random empty Iranian facility abroad. I expect something significant more severe. Multiple targets over multiple days. But I do not expect Iranian soil to be attacked. If that happens, then **** would hit the fan. I think Pentagon knows the 2nd or 3rd order effects will be unknown of such a move
Middle East of 2018-2019 was much more quiet than it is now. ''Iranian-backed'' forces were not staging 180+ attacks against US forces. Why would Trump strike inside Iran?Trump and his War hawk cabinet never struck inside Iran either.
Ironically the last president to land troops on Iranian soil was Jimmy Carter (a Democrat), with Reagon being the last US President to strike Iranian military assets (non IRGC) during Operation prey mantis.
Everything since then has been a shadow war leading up to the Solemani strike.

Just to be clear, I dont think they will strike inside Iran. I am just saying that not doing it shows great vulnerability.
And we remove simple messages saying that an American live isn't worth 10000 non-American lives!Since when has 1 US soldier life = 1 Iranian/Russian/Chinese? Never in the history of Western Imperialism. In the eyes of US, 1 US soldier life is worth 10 Iranians or 20 or 100. But for sure not 1 for 1.
We shall see what happens, all signs point to next 24 hours for the air campaign to start.
