I looked up the Sabalan ship 65 years old wouldn’t have been better to invest in a new ship
53 years old thank you very much, it is just entering its prime. and it was rebuilt and upgraded in 1991, so around 34 years old

it has long range and carries 16 ASCMs and other defences

My bad I read when it was ordered not launched

At first glance I thought of an updated version of this

But WM FCR radars have a characteristic shape (ovoid) not completely spherical. It has also a joint to separate the case to have access to antenna.
But also won´t be too much practical whenever the Sahand has its own FCR for Sayyad and a IR/EO turret for Fajr 27 gun.

that's why I wrote that I had thought of an ‘updated’ version

2 Fateh hulls under construction

This is the first evidence after two years of just press anounces of Fateh constructions. The Twitter user is right, the best navy asset to challenge US Navy are subs. Light frigates or corvettes have limited utility and in direct combat the only real thread are Gadir and Fateh classes. Kilo class have been recorded and are probably well known by US navy sonar officers, but those small diesel bastards can hurt very painfuly any big ship.

The new ones will hopefully have fuel cells or some similar AIP propulsion.

Any information about this boat? Is it possible to use it in the open sea?

Yes it can be carried by Forward base ships of IRGCN.

until they show it armed with missiles and actually produced in numbers it's just a gimmick / potential future platform

This 205 Km/h fast attack boat increases the V0 of its onboard cruise missile. This causes increasing of L/D ratio of the cruising missile through highly improving consideration of flight regime.

If its armed with 300 Km anti ship CMs, i expect a sharp increase in range of this cruise missile caused by mentioned factor. Decreasing the drag and increasing of its range can take the missile's range to above 600 Km at least.

What remains to be seen is a field test of Heidar-110 launching a CM at sea targets.

we only saw a short video of one unarmed Heidar-110

there is no evidence it is in service or can even carry two cruise missiles with 300km range. if it can carry any cruise missiles it is probably the smaller ones like Kowsar

It will be assisted by a drone if armed with a cruise missile like Qader.

But as you said, it remains to be seen, if any of existing cruise missiles is fitted on it and then gets tested.

Choppers always enjoyed superiority against fast attack boats at sea. In terms of speed, field of view, higher altitude and other factors. This one boat almost overcomes the speed factor of choppers and almost makes itself immune to that. Which increases chance of scaping kill radius of an incoming chopper. Shoulder launched air defense system can also help the crew to defuse other factors.

It won't remain unarmed for sure, IRGCN has different plans for this boat. They are most possibly testing different subsystems on it. Must wait and see.

that missile will be heavy and dramatically reduce the peed of the boat
also the altitude that you release the missile is also very important so i don't expect such increase in range if any happen at all
