Iranian Space program | News and Discussions

Previously they said they will launch Sarir in 2026 and Qaem 120 in 2027.....

And they must launch Qaem 105 and Qaem 110 before Qaem 120

But here they say Sarir is almost complete. And in article they mention 105 and 120, but not 110 or 115.

Is this a translator error or an Iranian official talking without real knowledge? I would hope it’s the former.

Iran to produce 20 more satellites next year (21 March 2024 - 21 March 2025)

Iran to produce 20 more satellites next year

TEHRAN, Mar. 17 (MNA) – Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology said that the year 1402 was the most brilliant year in the country's space program, adding that producing 20 more satellites is on the agenda.

Construction phases and details. Hopefully will visit:

Here we go again;

I also plan to launch 5 to 7 satellites this year. Not sure how, but I’ll figure it out,

See how easy it is to claim something?

Doesn’t look to be ready any time soon. Doubtful it will be ready by end of this year. Not with the level of funding and seriousness Iran has towards space. It’s an afterthought.

Maybe almost ready by March 2025 (phase 1) and March 2026 (phase 2) and 2028+ for phase 3 (cryogenic launchers).

Wouldn’t be the least bit suprised if we are still talking about construction by 2030.

it's from a documentary about sabotage operations in iranian missile projects, the first episode aired yesterday, I am trying to find it

A movie I believe. My original post shows a scene. The tweet itself is interesting...the scene is probably in a real manufacturing environment.

Chairman of the Defense Committee of the Russian State Duma (Andrey Kartapolov) on Iran-Russia space cooperation

Q: What are your thoughts on the Russian-Iranian cooperation in space?

A: Well, why not. Iran has moved far in advancing its rocket technology. Should the Islamic Republic of Iran express interest in exploring avenues of space cooperation, such as sending an Iranian astronaut into space aboard a Russian spacecraft or some other space cooperation, it would be obvious what the decision would be.

Any idea when this would`ve been filmed roughly,as the slvs certainly look to be real, you wouldnt bother with this level of realistic detail for props in a scene, unless of course the props were actually real.
If this has been filmed quite recently then its pretty clear proof that the civilian space program is finally starting to be resurrected, thank god

And yet Iran hasn’t even sent an astronaut into space with Russian cosmonauts or begun preparations. Should tell you all you need to know about “seriousness” of a manned space program in this country.

Rouhani vs Raisi is irrelevant. Neither care about space program or want to take initiative.

IRGC will fire a micro Sat every 3-6 Months (optimistic) and call it a day.

ISA will keep playing around with Simorgh,Sarir, Zuljanah every once in a while to get more funding when it begins to run dry.

This program in 20 years has been underwhelming failure.

To put it in perspective:
compare Iranian missile industry in 2005 and in 2024
or Iranian air defense industry in 2005 to Iranian air defense in 2024
or when Iranian drone industry in 2005 and in 2024.

Now look at the space program. Went from Safir to Simorgh to ______ (Zoljanah? Sarir?)

IRGC is just firing modified BMs to LEO right now. Something they had the capability to do in 2010 if they really wanted, but chose to sit on sidelines while ISA struggled.

Actually the biggest mistake was to take the space program away from the military and put it in the hands of civilians, this ultimately was an utter disaster and wasted probably over a decade.
You can thank rouhani for that one,a freebee for his bffs in the west.

However I do agree that it seems somewhat pointless continuing to waste more time and effort with the simorgh,it would make more sense to use the more advanced 4d10 engine from the khorramshahr or far better yet to acquire the rd250 from the dprk.

The other way would be a dual approach, continuing to gain further experience putting up improved minisats using the simorgh while developing in parallel a medium lift [5-7 tons leo] capability slv.
