Syria entered Lebanon because many Syrians consider it a fake country and land that was taken away from it by the French. Palestinians were just an excuse to try and annex the country.
Hezbollah has fought Israel for 40 years and sacrificed enormously for Palestine, unlike Syria which has joined other Arab states in seeing what benefit it could extract from West at the cost of Palestinians.

Nope complete lie, Syria or should I say Hafez entered b/c the LNM(left wing groups(Druze, Melkites+Orthodox, Communists + Lebanese Sunnies)+ PLO were close to a win against the Maronite Militias, Hafez literally switched sides in the conflict, initially supporting the LNM against the right wing Christian Maronite Militias then fearing a possible sandwiching between the Iraqi backed factions to the west and Iraq Baathists under Saddam to the east, he switched sides and invaded in 1976 in support of the Maronite Militias. Hafez switched from supporting the Left to preventing an LNM/PLO victory that could align Lebanon with Sunni Iraq.

Iraq emerged as the third-largest Arab importer of Chinese solar panels in the first half of 2025, fueled by the launch of multiple renewable energy projects, the Washington-based ATTAQA, an energy research group, reported on Sunday.
According to the report, Iraq imported 0.95 gigawatts (GW) of Chinese solar panels between January and June, up from 0.14 GW a year earlier—an increase of 0.81 GW.
The analysis noted that Arab countries are increasingly capitalizing on their abundant solar resources—among the highest globally—to diversify power generation and reduce reliance on oil and gas. New entrants to the top-10 list this year included Iraq, Algeria, and Sudan, while Oman dropped off.
Saudi Arabia topped the rankings, fueled by its aggressive solar expansion drive, followed by the UAE, Iraq, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Yemen, Sudan, and Lebanon.

Iraq signed a contract on Monday with China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering (CPP) to build a 950-km pipeline network that will deliver treated seawater to southern oilfields, Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani said.
In a statement, Abdul Ghani explained that the project will launch with a capacity of 5M barrels per day (bpd), supplying fields such as Rumaila, Zubair, West Qurna 1 and 2, and Majnoon, with later extensions to Maysan and Dhi Qar. Capacity could eventually expand to 7–8M bpd.
Abdul Ghani described the plan as strategic, underscoring that seawater injection is vital to maintaining pressure in Iraq’s aging reservoirs. "Channeling seawater for industry would free river and groundwater resources for farming and household use."

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – In a new step demonstrating the Iraqi government’s commitment to addressing the electricity sector’s chronic challenges, the Ministry of Electricity has signed a deal with China’s Shanghai Electric to build large thermal power plants operated by locally produced fuel with a capacity of up to 10,000 megawatts.
According to the state-run newspaper al-Sabah, the deal is part of a series of strategic initiatives aimed at boosting the national grid’s reliability and efficiency, helping to alleviate the power shortage and increase output.
The spokesperson for the Electricity Ministry, Ahmed Musa, explained that the initiative focuses on using local fuel to run the power facilities, confirming that the ministry has already begun the executive processes to move on with the project.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said in August that Iraq’s electrical grid would gain an additional 60,000 megawatts after major projects are finished.
With the help of locally produced fuel, Iraq’s electrical sector is set to make substantial progress toward power production projects, which will eventually lead to energy self-sufficiency.
In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel, revealed last April that the ministry is undertaking initiatives that employ local fuel.
Fadel explained that achieving energy self-sufficiency and cutting dependency on imported fuel, which has led to a crisis in the country’s electrical system in recent years, are the main goals of the government’s strategy to grow the energy sector.
To better serve customers and improve the country’s electrical grid, Fadel emphasized that diversifying Iraq’s electricity sources is a crucial step.
Building new power plants that use domestic fuel instead of imported fuel, particularly from Iran, is part of the plan developed by the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity and is now being carried out as part of the government’s strategy.
The country will become energy self-sufficient as a result of the Ministry of Oil’s current efforts to utilize flared gas, according to Fadel. Consequently, Iraq’s electricity supply will be stabilized and improved as a result of this significant government initiative.

Despite the Saudi-Iranian rapprochement in 2023, after the two countries signed normalization agreements, Iran continues to confront Saudi Arabia on several fronts—including in Iraq, where Tehran is working to block Saudi investments that could total as much as $100 billion.
On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, pro-Iranian Shiite parties and militias disrupted a session of the Iraqi parliament. Withdrawals by lawmakers prevented the chamber from reaching a quorum in a meeting scheduled to discuss and approve the text of the bilateral investment treaty between Iraq and Saudi Arabia. The agreement, originally drafted in 2017, has yet to be ratified.
Iran and allied Shiite parties and militias in Iraq say they fear that large-scale Saudi investments in Iraq’s western and southwestern regions—bordering Saudi Arabia and Jordan—could lead to a Sunni autonomous region. Such a development would weaken Shiite influence in these areas, many of which are Sunni-majority and share borders with Syria, a critical corridor for the transfer of weapons into Lebanon.
The Iraqi-Saudi project under discussion grants Saudi companies investment rights in desert lands along Iraq’s western borders with Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Syria, as well as in the provinces of Anbar, Najaf, and Muthanna. Projects cover agriculture, energy, infrastructure, and other sectors, and were first agreed upon in 2018.
In May 2024, Iraq signed 12 memoranda of understanding with Saudi companies for investments, and in November 2024, the two countries signed the final draft of the investment promotion and protection agreement. According to the official announcement, the deal aims to create a safe, attractive environment for Saudi investors in Iraq.
Qais al-Khazali, leader of Asaib Ahl al-Haq, one of the main Iran-backed militias, said in a statement: “The Saudi regime seeks to seize vast areas of Anbar, Najaf, Muthanna, and Basra under the guise of investment. This comes in parallel with steps toward normalization with Israel.”
Farouq Ali, a real-estate company owner and investment specialist in Iraq, told The Media Line: “Iran still places a veto on Saudi investments, fearing Saudi economic influence that could expand into political influence.”
The businessman added: “Billions of dollars in investments have been blocked by pro-Iranian parties and militias in Iraq solely because they are Saudi. Armed factions oppose them for their own personal interests.”
Ali continued: “These investments would have expanded into other sectors, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs for Iraqis and stimulating industries such as logistics, agriculture, construction, and contracting. But all of this is postponed indefinitely.”
The idea of a Sunni autonomous region in Iraq dates back to 2006. After the eruption of sectarian war that killed hundreds of thousands of Sunni Iraqis, calls emerged to form a Sunni region composed of several Sunni-majority provinces: Anbar—which alone covers nearly a third of Iraq’s territory—along with Nineveh, Salahuddin, and Kirkuk. The proposal was rejected due to concerns about losing a resource-rich region, particularly the oil-rich Kirkuk.
Opponents also warned that such a region could sever Iran’s land corridor to Syria, since these provinces border Syria, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.
Abdullah al-Qurghuli, a Sunni Iraqi politician, told The Media Line: “This is not about rejecting a Sunni region, or even about Saudi investments in Iraq. It is about the presence of Shiite militias near the Saudi border.”
The politician continued: “These militias seek to remain close to Saudi Arabia so they can strike if ordered by Iran. They also want to control these investments and capture their revenues instead of allowing Saudi Arabia to benefit.”
Al-Qurghuli also pointed out: “There are large camps in these deserts. Although these militias lack the ideas or tools to invest there, they will nevertheless obstruct the project.”
Abbas al-Khazraji, a Shiite Iraqi political analyst, told The Media Line: “No one can accept granting all of these lands to a single country, especially in such sensitive areas. There are already Saudi investments in Iraq, particularly in Baghdad, which no one opposed. But on this scale, it is unprecedented.”
The analyst added: “We do not trust the Saudis. Iran has previously offered to invest in these areas, so why reject Iran and accept Saudi Arabia?”
In recent years, Baghdad has hosted multiple investment exhibitions, with major participation from economic delegations from several countries, including Saudi Arabia. Dozens of Saudi businesspeople have traveled to Iraq, while Iraqi businesspeople have also visited Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia has already invested in Iraq’s construction and contracting sector and is developing several residential investment cities in western Baghdad, as well as the capital’s largest shopping mall. In 2023, Riyadh allocated nearly $24 billion for investments in several countries, including Iraq.
Majid al-Khalidi, a Saudi economic journalist, told The Media Line: “It is not surprising that Iran opposes these Saudi investments in Iraq. Tehran views everything through a political lens, while Saudi Arabia sees it as support for Iraq and a major investment opportunity for a country exhausted by wars.”
He added: “There are more than 13 agreements between Iraq and Saudi Arabia in the investment sector, some of which are still awaiting implementation.”

This is one of the many examples why the Iranian regime cannot be trusted. Acting to the detriment of Iraq and Iraqis just to try to keep their "influence" intact that does not benefit Iraq or Iraqis. They are desperately trying to limit Saudi Arabian investments into Iraq, which would help Iraq as a country and Iraqis as a people immensely, even though the Iran-regime aligned Iraqi political parties and terrorist groups have run Iraq down to the ground and completely failed and even though there is enormous popular support for Saudi Arabia and Arab investments into Iraq. @The SC

They should be banning their corrupt and incompetent cult militias (numerous of them operating outside of state control or with the blessing of the regime in power) as well. Oh, wait....
I don't believe that for a second. If anything likely just posturing in order not to be on the bad side of the West (USA) and for fear of sanctions or even military strikes.
Anyway what benefit or relationship does Iraq have to Hezbollah in far away Lebanon or similarly Houthis in Yemen? What gain does Iraq and Iraqis get from this alleged alignment or support? Don't know what that support entails anyway other than whitewashing the cults money or being used as a transit point for weapons toward Lebanon. Now with the route closed, there is really no purpose from an objective sane standpoint.
Any country that allows militias to operate within their territory outside of state control are by definition failed states.
Those useless militia cults are not a threat for Israel, the West or anybody but just an excuse for a few corrupt people and their families to enrich themselves and gain political, economic and religious power among the stupid masses. They serve no purpose nowadays, especially in Iraq.
Maybe those useless militia cults should try to restore Iraqi sovereignty in KRG. That they cannot even do.
Anyway Iraq and Iraqis have nothing to gain from being aligned to the usual suspects. This has been tried for the past 20 + years and have given them nothing but failure.

I don't believe that for a second. If anything likely just posturing in order not to be on the bad side of the West (USA) and for fear of sanctions or even military strikes.
Anyway what benefit or relationship does Iraq have to Hezbollah in far away Lebanon or similarly Houthis in Yemen? What gain does Iraq and Iraqis get from this alleged alignment or support? Don't know what that support entails anyway other than whitewashing the cults money or being used as a transit point for weapons toward Lebanon. Now with the route closed, there is really no purpose from an objective sane standpoint.
Any country that allows militias to operate within their territory outside of state control are by definition failed states.
Those useless militia cults are not a threat for Israel, the West or anybody but just an excuse for a few corrupt people and their families to enrich themselves and gain political, economic and religious power among the stupid masses. They serve no purpose nowadays, especially in Iraq.
Maybe those useless militia cults should try to restore Iraqi sovereignty in KRG. That they cannot even do.
Anyway Iraq and Iraqis have nothing to gain from being aligned to the usual suspects. This has been tried for the past 20 + years and have given them nothing but failure.
